(CHAR POV)
The day seemed to drag on after I left Mia's house. The weekend was lovely, but it was time to get back to work and real life. Even if I just wanted to go back and live it all over again.

After talking with Reece and making plans to become his "therapist," not much else happened the rest of the day. A few of the usual problem parents complained. I got peed on once, which is less than usual since I do primarily work in the baby room.

I was going through the day on autopilot. Not even noticing I was home until I'd already been there for a few hours. It was 9:30pm when I was finally aware of where I was and what I was doing.

Time flies when by when I have the kids. I had already tucked them into bed when I heard my phone ringing from the next room. I kissed their foreheads one more time before shutting the door and heading off to answer.

It was Mia. Finally.

"Reece is mad at you." I laughed, answering Mia's call.

"That seems to be a common theme today." She said, sounding upset.

My tone shifted immediately, "What do you mean? Did something happen today?"

"What? No. Just a... bad meeting. The investors were not very friendly." She replied quickly but unsure of herself. "I miss you." She said.

"I miss you too. Are you sure you're okay?" I asked concerned. I waited for her reply, but nothing came. Poor, Mia. The investors must've been awful to keep her quiet like this. "Do you want to talk about it, or do you want to hear about my day instead?"

"Definitely want to hear about yours. Why is Reecey mad at me?"

"I might've let it slip that you called your relationship with him tedious..." I braced myself for her to get mad at me, but she didn't.

She let out a small laugh, "Of course, he would be upset about that. I know deep down that he agrees with me." Changing the subject seemed to be working. "What else happened? Fight any parents?"

I rolled my eyes, "No, Amelia. I did not fight any parents. I did, however, almost get in an argument with Reece."

This interested her, "Really? Do I need to give him a call and threaten him for you?" She asked, too eager to rip him a new one.

"No, it wasn't anything serious. He was just being Reece. We talked about why he doesn't tell Marjorie he loves her, and that took us down the whole therapy route, which he didn't like."

"You brought up therapy? With one of the Knight siblings? Are you trying to quit childcare to become a comedian?" I could hear her laughing, no longer showing any sign of upset. I wondered how she was able to switch it off and on so quickly. Was it just a way to protect herself?

"Ha ha. Very funny, but no. I just think they should talk to someone... and somehow that someone had become me?"

She stopped and got serious, "What do you mean?"

"Well," my nervous squeak came out, and there was no saving myself now. "I know we came up with a set time to facetime on Friday, but I'm going to have to cancel now."

Her upset was back, "What? Why? I was looking forward to that!" She said whining.

"I know, but Reece is coming over to do a mini therapy session with me. He wants to figure out all of his trauma and learn to tell Marjorie he loves her. I felt bad, and that's the only time I'm free." She was huffing and puffing on the other end. "We can reschedule for Saturday night. What's an extra day, really?" I said, trying to reassure her.
