TW: if you have emetaphobia there is mention of puke later in the chapter.
Taylor's POV:
After refusing harper sleeping in our bed for a good few nights, I had completely forgotten how much she wriggles around and disrupts my sleep. However, I couldn't be mad. I was just thankful to have her there. Her little face was now tucked up between by chest and the pillow that she was resting on, her hand tucked under my body and her legs sprawled right across Travis.
How she ended up here I could never know.
Her little leg slowly moved and suddenly her head popped up, messy hair all over the place and her little eyes watery from sleepiness. "Good morning princess. How did you sleep?" I cooed, gently smoothing some of her hair down and ruffling her bangs so they fell into place. She giggled a little and sat up, pointing to the tv.
"I can't put the tv on right now daddy is asleep." I told her.
"I no cawe. He can wake up." She sassed, reaching for the remote.
I gently guided her to sit back down, handing her my phone. She was too smart though, while I was reading she opened up my contacts, saw the emojis by Travis' name and immediately knew it was him, pressing call and giggling when the phone rang out loud. Travis immediately jumped, reaching to turn it off.
I had to admit it was quite funny though so instead of scolding her, I picked her up and rushed off downstairs before he could see it was my phone calling him. We both giggled and got breakfast ready. However, I kinda shot myself in the foot when I gave harper some chopped up banana to go by the side of her dry cereal, wanting to give her nutritious food and things that are healthy.
We ended up with a mushy mess.
Thankfully Travis cleaned that up for me and soon enough Ellie came downstairs with a notebook. "You guys have some wedding planning to do. I bought you a notebook to do it in because it can be some bonding for you both so you get to spent time together. I'll take harper to the park." She told us.
I smiled a little and looked over at Travis who was sipping his drink. "Sounds perfect." I told her, looking at Travis with a smile. We had completely forgotten about plans for the wedding, we didn't even have a date set.
The two girls headed off out and Travis and myself sat down on the sofa, blankets, snacks, notebook, pen and laptop. Finally cuddled together. We didn't need to talk about what had happened, no more would be said on that, we needed to focus on the future.
"So I'm thinking. Flower girl will be Harper of course, then Ellie and your nieces as the bridesmaids." I told him, pointing for him to write that down. He nodded and started scribbling it down, his tongue sticking out ever so slightly. He then told me his ideas on a venue and time of year and I was OBSESSED. We had agreed on one that was early summer, not too hot not too cold.
We wanted a cute outside wedding with a beautiful indoor reception where we could fit everyone and still have enough space to dance. We had a lot of big ideas and we just knew it would be perfect to both of us. We could compromise on it and make a very Taylor Travis style wedding and party.
Eventually Ellie walked in with harper, tears streaming down her little cheeks, with Harper that could mean anything. "What's up tiny?" Travis asked, scooping her up and sitting her in his lap. She looked over at me then back to Travis.
"J- jus. No feew good." She mumbled, this happened often with harper, her immune system was so bad, something Travis and I really needed to check out. I gently rubbed my thumb over her bright red cheeks and sighed. She did feel hot.
"Mama." She whimpered, looking over at me. I had so much to do though, I needed to clean, make dinner, organise a few things outside. I really didn't have the time to have her attached to me on the hip for the day.
"I got her one of those things that go on your front if you want? And I can help you out if you wanna take her?" Travis offered. I nodded and followed him upstairs to find the carrier that goes on my front, he immediately put harper in and tightened the straps, ensuring I was okay with the tightness. We then tucked her bear and blankie in there and I pushed her pacifier into her mouth, trying to calm her while wiping down the surfaces throughout our house.
"Shh baby settle. You're okay." I whispered, kissing her head every now and then. She didn't though, just continued to whine and whimper. Eventually she threw up all over me, straight down my chest and all over herself too. I looked down and paused for a second, trying to remain calm.
This caused her to cry even more.
"Okay baby, okay, mamas got you, let's go up for a shower huh?" I whispered, running upstairs and immediately taking her clothes off her, trying to wipe away as much puke as possible from her tiny body. It was everywhere though, even in her hair.
I then looked down at myself in the same state and sighed, taking off my clothes too and climbing into the shower, reaching my arms over and picking her up, holding her under the water. She always hates showers, she'd much rather have a nice relaxing bath but we had to think urgently.
I felt her little hands holding onto my hair, reminding me of the fact I desperately needed to wash hers. "Hold your hands out baby. Good girl. Now put that in your hair and rub rub rub." I encouraged, putting a bit of shampoo on her hands. I helped rub it in and rinse it out then put a small amount of conditioner on her ends.
At first I felt slightly uncomfortable stepping in with her, due to her not being my biological child I knew it was something most families would frown upon, everyone encourages it when it's your biological child, but why treat an adopted child any differently? Eventually it felt a little bit more easy for me.
She was then desperate to do mine of course so I let her help wash mine before washing us both again to make sure all of the puke was gone. "You've given mama some more laundry to do huh?" I joked, kissing her nose as I stepped out of the shower, reaching for two towels, one small and one normal sized.
After the shower we got into some cozy PJs and found a new carrier to strap her against me, one that wasn't full of puke. I managed to continue with dinner and thankfully Travis then took her from me, putting on tangled for her to watch.
