"Who is outside?!"
A stern voice rang out from within the hall, carrying a vast pressure.
Ling Jiancheng quickly stepped in front of the door and bowed deeply. "Master, please calm your anger! It's only me and Junior Sister Qingyue!"
Ren Qingyue followed Ling Jiancheng in greeting. "Disciple Ren Qingyue pays respects to the Sect Master."
At the same time, she quickly scanned the surroundings to get a sense of the situation.
Inside the hall were three people. The Sect Master of Fuyun Sect, Bu Donghou, sat at the head position. With a square face and thick brows, he exuded an imposing presence even without showing anger.
To his left was a middle-aged man dressed in luxurious robes, holding a cup of tea. With his pale fingers lifting the cup lid, he gently wafted away the steam from the tea's surface, his emotions unreadable.
This man was the Peak Master of the Earth Spirit Peak, known as Dao Ling Xianzun, one of the few Great Ascension cultivators in Fuyun Sect.
Opposite Dao Ling Xianzun was another person dressed in a black robe, with puffy eyes and a languid demeanor. This was Yan Xu Xianren, an elder of the Xuanjing Peak, looking old and weary.
At this moment, all three of them turned their gaze towards the hall's entrance. Bu Donghou frowned and looked displeased, reprimanding, "Impudent and thoughtless! Didn't even inform us beforehand?"
Ling Jiancheng lowered his head. "Disciple is at fault!"
Yan Xu Xianren squinted his eyes, taking on the role of peacemaker. "The younger generation's mistakes are not major offenses. Let it be. Just remember for next time."
Dao Ling Xianzun also spoke up for Ling Jiancheng. "It's been months since we last saw each other. Jiancheng seems to have made progress in his cultivation. Perhaps he was in a hurry to share good news with Master and thus neglected some formalities?"
Ling Jiancheng nodded in agreement with Dao Ling Xianzun's words. "Yes."
Bu Donghou's expression softened slightly but he still said, "What's the use of advancing in cultivation if your character is still lacking? You need more practice and improvement."
Ling Jiancheng earnestly acknowledged his fault. "Disciple will remember Master's teachings and will not make the same mistake again."
Bu Donghou shifted his gaze from Ling Jiancheng to Ren Qingyue. "Qingyue, it's been a while since you last visited the main peak. Did that idle fellow from Tianzhu Peak send you to convey something?"
Ren Qingyue remained composed, pretending not to have heard the previous conversation. She calmly took out a bamboo scroll and presented it with both hands. "Master, as you are aware, Senior Uncle Yuan Yi sent me here with something."
"This is the list of disciples from Tianzhu Peak who will be going down the mountain for training next month. Please have a look, Master."
Bu Donghou raised his hand, and the bamboo scroll floated into the air, landing in his hand.
As he peeled off the seal and began to review it, Dao Ling Xianzun smiled and remarked, "Well, it's quite surprising that Yuan Yi, this idle Daoist, actually remembered the Immortal Sect Disciples' Conference. It's truly unusual."
Yan Xu Xianren snorted coldly. "Yuan Yi is indeed not fit to be the Peak Master of Tianzhu Peak. In recent decades, Tianzhu Peak has only been deteriorating. In my opinion, even if the management of Tianzhu Peak were handed over to Qingyue, it would be better than how Yuan Yi is handling it!"
