The small fruit fell from the fox's mouth.

Yan Zhao's quick reflexes caught it, and she placed it back into the fox's mouth, laughing as she said, "Why can't you hold onto your food properly?"

The small fox finally snapped out of its daze, swallowed the fruit whole, and didn't taste much of it.

Seeing Yan Zhao's cheerful face, it felt stiff, avoided her gaze, and quickly jumped out of her arms.

It didn't run far, but instead followed Yan Zhao, slowly making its way back.

When they reached the tree where Feng Jin had been, the person who should have been there had already fled.

Yan Zhao continued walking without any concern about Feng Jin's departure, and the small fox, still dazed, also forgot about the matter.

Several corpses were scattered in front of the cave.

Most people would be horrified and flee upon seeing such a scene, but Yan Zhao showed no reaction. She even squatted down next to the bodies, searched their pockets, and took everything valuable.

After all, these people were already dead, and their belongings were of no use to them anymore.

After searching the bodies, Yan Zhao noticed Bi Lan lying on the ground. She walked over, crouched, and gently pushed Bi Lan's shoulder.

There was no movement, and there were no visible injuries. It was unclear whether Bi Lan was dead or alive.

Yan Zhao thought for a moment, then reached out to check Bi Lan's nose.

"Oh, still breathing, not dead yet."

After saying this, she stood up and went back into the cave.

About half an hour later, Bi Lan woke up, lying on the ground in a very awkward position, head down, and neck twisted. Upon waking, her shoulders and neck felt sore and painful.

Why did she suddenly faint?

She struggled to get up from the ground, and before she could brush off the dirt, a scene of dead bodies came into view, causing her pupils to constrict in shock.

What's going on?!

Bi Lan froze for a moment and then remembered Yan Zhao was still in the cave. She immediately ran into the cave.

She saw Yan Zhao with her back to the cave entrance, sitting side by side with the small fox, leaning over and whispering. It was unclear what they were talking about.

As she got closer, she saw several Qiankun bags laid out in front of Yan Zhao, as if she was counting valuables.

Thinking about the corpses outside the cave, Bi Lan guessed what Yan Zhao had been up to.

She was both amused and exasperated.

"Junior Sister Yan," Bi Lan called softly, "What's going on with those people outside?"

Yan Zhao quickly gathered the Qiankun bags from the ground and stuffed them into her pockets, shaking her head, "I don't know."

Bi Lan looked puzzled and frowned.

Twice now, Yan Zhao had found the bodies. The cause of death for the corpses outside and the ones seen earlier in the forest was the same. Was it really not Yan Zhao who killed them?

If not Yan Zhao, then who could it be?

But Junior Sister Yan seemed so unfazed, casually counting her money in the cave with several corpses lying outside.
