"Come on, Senior Sister, give us a smile."
Yan Zhao rested her chin on her hands, her eyes sparkling with laughter.
Ren Qingyue met Yan Zhao's bright smile and felt momentarily dazed. How could she stay angry? In an instant, all her annoyance and embarrassment vanished like smoke.
Her turbulent emotions gradually calmed under Yan Zhao's clear, pure gaze. Without realizing it, Ren Qingyue found herself smiling too, only noticing it when she caught her reflection in Yan Zhao's eyes.
With a sense of helplessness, she poked Yan Zhao's forehead. "From now on, no more nonsense. Whatever you do, you must first get consent from others, understand?"
Yan Zhao nodded eagerly, "Got it."
Ren Qingyue felt a bit relieved. Seeing that her Senior Sister was indeed no longer angry, Yan Zhao felt at ease.
Human emotions are indeed complex; even with the longest companionship, she couldn't quite understand her Senior Sister.
Little foxes are so much better, Yan Zhao thought. She didn't have to guess what Xueqiu was thinking; she could just reach out to touch or hug him whenever she wanted.
If only relationships could be that simple.
Speaking of which, she wondered how Xueqiu's injury was healing. Now that she had obtained the sandalwood, could they return?
Ren Qingyue didn't want to dwell on that issue; they had been out long enough and should head back.
Inside the Xu Huang Secret Realm, the light was dim, with no distinction between day and night. Their sense of time relied solely on experience.
It had probably been several days since they entered the Xu Huang Secret Realm.
Yan Zhao closely followed her Senior Sister. After her breakthrough, her spiritual perception had heightened, allowing her to easily discover hidden plants and herbs. Based on the spiritual pressure these plants emitted, she could roughly judge their quality.
As long as she found powerful medicinal herbs, it didn't matter whether she recognized them or not; Yan Zhao would just pick them and put them in her pocket.
The cold wind rustled through the dense forest, and a shadow darted through the branches, lunging at Yan Zhao.
Ren Qingyue swung her sword with a sharp sound, cleaving the monster in two.
Yan Zhao picked up the herbs and stood up, kicking the monster's head away as she passed.
In the Xu Huang Secret Realm, almost all monsters feared the Demon Slaying Sword; as long as she followed Ren Qingyue, she didn't have to worry about her safety.
As they were about to exit the forest, a sudden wave of melancholy washed over Yan Zhao. Leaving the woods and crossing the sandy river, they would soon return to the cave where A Yin was healing.
If A Yin was better, they would leave the Xu Huang Secret Realm. Would her Senior Sister then quietly depart like before?
Thinking this made Yan Zhao feel heavy-hearted. She wanted to spend more time alone with her Senior Sister, even if today she was acting strangely and impatiently. Even if they didn't speak, just walking side by side would be enough.
This feeling was so foreign that Yan Zhao didn't know how to handle it. She wanted to ask her mother why she felt sad at the thought of her Senior Sister leaving.
But her mother was silent too; after the great battle, when the golden light faded, no matter how she called, her mother no longer responded.
Yan Zhao wondered: Is her mother asleep?
