On the way back, Ah Ling apologized to Yan Zhao for what happened that morning.

Yan Zhao acted as if she hadn't heard, showing no reaction.

"Hey!" Ah Ling grabbed her arm, "Can you hear me when I'm talking to you?"

Yan Zhao stopped and replied, "I heard."

"Then why don't you say something?" Ah Ling's guilt quickly turned into anger. She felt like she and Yan Zhao were just incompatible.

Yan Zhao tilted her head, her eyelashes fluttering as she looked at Ah Ling with confusion.

"Did you do something wrong?"

Ah Ling was taken aback.

The same gesture, the same indifferent attitude that she used to find annoying now felt like an arrow shooting straight to her heart.

Ah Ling's heart raced: Where did this obedient little dog come from!

"Nothing, never mind."

Bi Lan glanced over, noticing Ah Ling awkwardly letting go of Yan Zhao and looking thoughtful.

As Yan Zhao and Bi Lan entered the village, the once noisy courtyard suddenly fell silent.

Everyone turned to look.

Yan Zhao hadn't changed her clothes, but her hair was neatly combed, revealing a delicate and refined face.

Even so, most people barely recognized her.

Was this still the wild girl from before?

Yan Zhao had a fair complexion, and her features, though not fully developed, retained some childish innocence. Her clear eyes resembled a finely crafted porcelain doll.

The villagers, regardless of gender, stared openly.

A man eating fruit raised his head upon seeing Yan Zhao, biting his tongue in surprise, and nearly choked on the fruit he swallowed too quickly.

Ah Ling raised her eyebrows with an indescribable sense of pride and called out, "What are you staring at? Haven't you seen a beautiful woman before?"

The crowd, snapping out of their daze, quickly turned their faces away, feeling embarrassed.

The men, who usually spoke lewdly, fell silent, unable to utter a word.

The bandit who had earlier bet that the leader would be interested in Yan Zhao was now ecstatic, "What did I say? You didn't believe me before, but now you must. Who was going to bet with me? Pay up!"

Feng Jin, hearing the commotion in the courtyard, came to the window to take a look, but was stunned.

Seeing Yan Zhao's features, she was momentarily lost in thought.

Yan Zhao's appearance... resembled someone from the past.

Feng Jin chose not to appear, but Ah Ling spotted her.

Seeing Feng Jin dazed and lost in thought, Ah Ling snorted and thought, "I actually believed your nonsense. You're such a hypocrite!"

As guests of the village, Yan Zhao and Bi Lan were invited to the main tent for a meal.

Bi Lan had already begun fasting and did not eat ordinary grains, so Feng Jin ordered tea and a few tea snacks for her.

When the food was served, Yan Zhao immediately revealed her true nature, reaching for the dishes.

Unfortunately, halfway through, the fox grabbed her sleeve and pulled her back.
