"The younger generation in the sect is ineffective, yet they still come to bother my old bones," Chen Yandao grumbled as he walked up the stone bridge, dressed in a gray-green Taoist robe.
On the other side of the bridge stood a large stone with the inscription: Taiyan Boundary Marker.
As he reached the middle of the bridge, he paused. Suddenly, a figure appeared in the empty space at the bridgehead.
The figure was graceful and curvaceous, her dark purple robe accentuating her fair and alluring skin. She was stunningly beautiful, a beauty that made the surrounding scenery fade in comparison. Yet, despite her breathtaking appearance, she was someone who struck fear into the hearts of many cultivators.
Chen Yandao's gaze locked onto the half-red yin-yang fish earring hanging from the woman's left ear. A sharp glint appeared in his eyes as he put away his casual, lazy demeanor. "A demonic woman from the Devil Sect, indeed more charming than most. To meet you today, well, dying under the peony flower would be a romantic death."
Jiang Ying lifted her eyelids lazily.
Suddenly, a fist flew out of nowhere and struck Chen Yandao's temple.
His eyes bulged, and his body flew sideways into the Taiyan River.
Jiang Ying frowned.
Swoosh—
Chen Yandao emerged from the water, pointing angrily at Leishuang, who had descended from the sky. "You sneak attacked me! No sense of honor!"
Leishuang, resting her elbow on her knee as she squatted on the stone bridge's railing, grinned at his words. "Fighting with you righteous cultivators, why should I play by the rules of honor?"
Before she could finish her sentence, Leishuang's eyebrows raised in surprise.
The person in the water had disappeared.
A sharp aura slashed from behind her. Leishuang clenched her five fingers, and lightning crackled between them.
Just as she was about to counterattack, a few swift noises sliced through the air, grazing the back of her head and cutting off a lock of her hair.
"!" Leishuang jumped three feet into the air. "You woman! I was helping you, and you still cut my hair!"
Jiang Ying shot her a cold glance and retorted icily, "If it weren't for the Devil Lord's orders, would you even help me?"
Leishuang pursed her lips, snorting in displeasure. "In the end, I was helping you."
Jiang Ying ignored her, shifting her attention back to Chen Yandao.
Chen Yandao had retreated several zhang away. Although he had quickly drawn his blade to deflect most of the incoming willow leaves, a few still grazed his limbs. In an instant, his gray-green robe was torn in several places, with blood seeping through the fabric.
Unlucky.
Chen Yandao cursed silently.
His junior brother had written to him, mentioning only that two small-time members of the Fuyun Sect had stolen the Xianxuan Token and had killed several disciples, asking him to retrieve the token. But he hadn't mentioned that the matter involved the Devil Sect!
He had no past grievances nor recent enmity with these two Devil Sect protectors. Aside from this incident, he couldn't think of any reason for them to target him.
Fighting two-on-one, his chances weren't great.
Chen Yandao quickly scrambled to his feet and sprinted toward the Taiyan Immortal Domain.
