"Soul damage?"

Yan Zhao didn't understand what it meant for the soul to be damaged, but coming from the woman, it sounded serious. Yan Zhao pursed her lips, her gaze settling on the one-armed woman's face.

The woman's expression was stern, her features sharp and strong, and the black robe she wore only added to her solemn aura. She calmly accepted Yan Zhao's scrutinizing gaze. While Yan Zhao studied her, the woman also took the chance to observe Yan Zhao's appearance without obstruction.

The little fox turned its head to look at Nangong Yin. Though its body was weak, with hardly any strength left, its eyes still burned with hostility.

Why was Nangong Yin at the Medicine God Sect? Could she be chasing Bai Jin? But if Nangong Yin was indeed the one hunting him, how would it have had a chance to escape?

A flood of doubts surged in Ren Qingyue's mind. She dared not relax in the slightest. She resolved that even if it cost her life, she would find a way to create an opportunity for Yan Zhao to escape.

However, her thoughts were clearly visible to Nangong Yin.

"At this point, do you really think you can do anything?" Nangong Yin stood in front of Yan Zhao. Although she didn't speak out loud, her domineering voice reverberated directly in Ren Qingyue's mind.

"With your measly level of cultivation, even at your peak, you wouldn't be able to stop me," Nangong Yin's cold, hoarse voice carried a faint hint of mockery. "If I killed you in front of her, do you think anyone would ever protect her like you again?"

This statement hit Ren Qingyue like a bucket of cold water, leaving her chilled to the bone.

If she died, what would happen to Yan Zhao? Ren Qingyue thought of Bi Lan, then of Feng Jin. But these names passed quickly through her mind, and none of them seemed truly dependable. She felt an unwillingness in her heart.

Her master had always led a bitter life. Why should even her master's child suffer hardship from birth? What could she do to protect Yan Zhao?

Ren Qingyue was filled with despair.

Just then, Yan Zhao's voice sounded behind her.

"What must I do to save it?"

She was speaking to Nangong Yin.

Yan Zhao recalled the words spoken by the spirit of the pill furnace during the earlier illusion. She stood her ground, looking directly into Nangong Yin's eyes, her tone sincere: "If you're willing to save it, I'll agree to anything."

Nangong Yin met Yan Zhao's gaze.

Her heart clenched as if an invisible hand was slowly tightening its grip, trembling silently. Her lips moved, but no sound came out. If not for the thread of reason still holding her back, she might have impulsively voiced her own selfish demands.

No! The little fox panicked, struggling desperately. But Yan Zhao's arms held it firmly, preventing it from escaping. The fox was far too weak to resist her now.

Yan Zhao took a step forward, approaching Nangong Yin.

She had always been frail, thin as a twig. Though she had grown a little taller recently, she was still shorter than Nangong Yin by a head. She had to tilt her head up to meet Nangong Yin's eyes.

"You know how to save it."

Yan Zhao's eyes were bright and determined. She didn't want to trust anyone, but she had no choice. If she didn't act, the little fox might die because of her recklessness.
