"Miss Yan, I need to tell you in advance: you want to meet Nangong Yin, but I can only help you get in touch with Nangong Yin's people. You'll have to handle the conversation yourself. Whether you can meet Nangong Yin afterward depends on your own abilities."
On the way to meet the informant, Chen Er repeatedly emphasized the seriousness of the situation, leaving Yan Zhao's ears nearly worn out from listening.
Holding the little fox, Yan Zhao calmly nodded. "I understand."
Chen Er had said all she could, and since Yan Zhao ignored her warnings, she wasn't sure how else to advise her.
As they were about to reach the meeting point, Chen Er sighed in resignation.
After the painful lesson of being outwitted by Xuanyuan Mu during their previous attempt to meet Nangong Yin, Chen Er did not believe that if she reappeared in front of Nangong Yin, Nangong Yin would have the patience to spare her life and listen to her. So, she could only accompany Yan Zhao to this point.
"No matter what, Miss Yan, please be extra cautious."
With this final piece of advice, Chen Er finally quieted down.
The meeting point was on the edge of a desert to the southwest of the Taiyan Immortal Domain. Chen Er led Yan Zhao to the location, took out a leaf from her sleeve, and blew a whistle.
The whistle had a distinctive rhythm, with varying intervals, which was the prearranged signal between Chen Er and the informant.
Before the whistle had even finished, a person suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
Yan Zhao looked at the newcomer, and their eyes met in a mutual stare.
"......"
A moment of silence.
Chen Er raised her arm and initiated the conversation. "Oh, long time no see."
Before she could finish, the newcomer pointed at Yan Zhao. "What's going on? You said you wanted to see the Demon Lord, and this is her?"
Chen Er nodded. "Yes, that's right. What's the matter?"
"......"
A strange atmosphere began to pervade.
Chen Er glanced at Yan Zhao and then at her few demon friends, growing increasingly puzzled. "I'm starting to wonder... do you two know each other?"
Yan Zhao pursed her lips, clearly displeased. "Why are you here?"
The woman in a dark blue outfit with a half-Yin-Yang fish earring on her right ear was none other than Lei Shuang, the demon right protector who previously had an unfriendly encounter with Yan Zhao.
Lei Shuang immediately countered, "I was about to ask the same thing. How did you end up here?"
Yan Zhao stated plainly, "I want to see Nangong Yin."
Considering her demon lord's attitude toward Yan Zhao, Lei Shuang had originally not intended to argue with Yan Zhao. However, upon hearing this, Lei Shuang's hair bristled with anger. "You can't just call the Demon Lord by name like that!"
Chen Er, feeling inexplicably sidelined, could only watch in silence.
"Wait, wait!" Chen Er forcibly inserted herself into the conversation, stepping between Yan Zhao and Lei Shuang. "First, tell me how you two know each other?"
Since it was unlikely Yan Zhao would clarify things, Chen Er turned directly to Lei Shuang. "You explain."
Lei Shuang snorted. "There's nothing much to say; we just know each other."
