Yan Zhao had a dream, and in it, she saw her mother again.
But this dream was different from the others.
In the dream, her mother was very quiet, barely speaking. She would often sit in the same spot, in a dim cave, staring blankly at the blurry sky outside. Yan Zhao's view was low, and even as she looked up, she could only see up to her mother's waist.
Feathery flakes fell from the gray sky, piling up outside the cave, slowly burying the sky. Yan Zhao must have been sitting in her mother's lap, spending an entire winter watching the snow together. That day, the snow fell heavily. Her mother's lips slowly bled with a hint of red. She stroked Yan Zhao's head, her gaze soft and filled with deep affection.
"Zhao'er, you will grow up healthy, with happiness and freedom."
"Remember, do not seek revenge for me."Her mother bent down, kissed her on the cheek, and whispered, "Find A-Yin. Tell her your name. She will love you just like I do."

Yan Zhao opened her eyes. Her vision was blurry. It took a while for the haze to clear, and when she finally blinked and focused, she realized she was in another unfamiliar place.
This time, it wasn't a cave or a forest, but a clean room.
Yawning, Yan Zhao tried to get up but felt something weighing on her arm. She turned her head and saw someone leaning on the side of the bed.
Looking closely, she recognized that it was her senior sister, Ren Qingyue.
Ren Qingyue was resting by the bedside, her head using Yan Zhao's arm as a pillow, sleeping deeply. There were faint dark circles under her eyes, and even in sleep, she looked tired. Who knew how long she had gone without rest?
Seeing her senior sister right after waking up filled Yan Zhao's heart with a soft, indescribable joy. Her lips curled into a smile, and her eyes twinkled like stars. She had never been this close to her senior sister, nor had she ever seen her sleeping.
Her long eyelashes fluttered with curiosity as she moved a little closer.
She had always admired her senior sister's elegant demeanor, but now, seeing her up close, she realized just how beautiful she was. Without the usual coldness in her expression, her face seemed flawless, exuding pure beauty.
Yan Zhao was at a loss for words to describe it—her only thought was how pleasing it was to look at her. Who wouldn't like such a beautiful and gentle person?
Ren Qingyue's long eyelashes lightly trembled, making Yan Zhao's heart itch with the desire to touch them. She extended a finger slightly, but then paused mid-air, remembering what her senior sister had taught her: when dealing with others, one must always ask for permission first.
Pouting, Yan Zhao pulled her hand back and propped her chin on her hands, simply watching. After a moment, she couldn't help but sigh inwardly.
Senior sister is so beautiful.
But how long would she sleep for? Wouldn't it be uncomfortable to sleep while hunched over the bed?
Thinking about it, Yan Zhao imagined herself in that position—it would certainly be more comfortable to lie down than to sleep leaning over like that.
Carefully, she lifted Ren Qingyue's head, gently slipping her arm out from under her, then quietly got out of bed.
Ren Qingyue had already woken up.
The moment Yan Zhao had tried to sit up and move her arm, Ren Qingyue had been roused. But she was too embarrassed to open her eyes, unsure how to explain why she had fallen asleep there. She had planned to slip away quietly once Yan Zhao fell back asleep, but instead, she found herself being stared at for quite a while. Had it not been for her strong will, she would have already given herself away.
