Southern Tianchen, Fuyun Sect.
The Sect Master Bu Donghou paced back and forth with a grim expression in the sect's administrative hall.
The Daoist Zhu Qiu and two other elders kept their heads bowed, remaining silent. The hall was filled with a heavy, oppressive silence, as if a large stone was pressing down on their shoulders.
The Vice Envoy of the Immortal Alliance had been killed by Nangong Yin. The Immortal Alliance was busy investigating the whereabouts of the treasures and seeking revenge against the demons, leaving no time to deal with other matters. The two Fuyun Sect disciples detained by the Great Blade Sect still remained missing, their fates unknown.
Bu Donghou was exasperated. Zhu Qiu had tried to negotiate several times, but all efforts had been in vain. The most recent attempt had been even more outrageous; when Fuyun Sect's people arrived at the Great Blade Sect, the latter immediately activated their sect's great formation and launched a frenzied attack. It was a miracle that no one was injured, let alone rescued.
Peace talks? That was utterly impossible. The Great Blade Sect had made it clear that they wanted Bu Donghou to apologize in person.
After an unknown amount of time, Zhu Qiu could no longer endure and said in a low voice, "No matter how difficult it is, we still have to rescue the people!"
"Rescue the people?" Bu Donghou's anger flared at these words. "Didn't I ask you to rescue them? And what was the result?! Your Tianzhu Peak has only bred useless individuals, bringing shame to the sect!"
Zhu Qiu gritted his teeth, clenching his fists in frustration. The two elders behind him exchanged glances, neither daring to speak or offer help.
Leaving the administrative hall, Zhu Qiu angrily brushed off his sleeves, muttering, "What a colossal joke!"
As the Sect Master, rather than setting an example and humbling himself to resolve the issue, he only blamed his subordinates for incompetence.
Ling Jiancheng had been crippled by demons, and Bu Donghou had sent Daoist Spirit Immortals to the Taiyan Immortal Domain to seek medicine. Yet, when his own disciples were captured, Bu Donghou showed such an attitude.
Zhu Qiu couldn't help but recall how glorious the Fuyun Sect had been under Yan Yuanqing's leadership. Not only small sects and factions in Southern Tianchen, but even the Immortal Alliance would not dare to undermine Fuyun Sect.
But Yan Yuanqing had been killed by his own people.
After the death of Immortal Yuanqing, Immortal Yuan Yi, who managed Tianzhu Peak, was unable to exert much power. The Earth Spirit Peak Master was often away, and Huang Yin Peak Master, who had the closest relationship with Yan Yuanqing, was in closed-door meditation. The control of the Fuyun Sect had fallen into the hands of the Daoist Spirit Immortal from Xuanjing Peak.
Seeing the Fuyun Sect's current plight, Zhu Qiu, feeling his lowly position and lack of influence, felt a chill in his heart.
"Elder Zhu, please wait."
As Zhu Qiu was halfway down the mountain, he was suddenly called to a halt.
He stopped and turned to look in the direction of the voice.
Not far behind him stood a figure, tall and slender, with the mountain wind causing his robes to flutter.
Zhu Qiu was surprised by this person's appearance, having not sensed him at all.
Upon recognizing the visitor's face, Zhu Qiu was even more astonished. "Jiancheng? Your injuries are healed?"
The person standing there and saluting was indeed Ling Jiancheng, who had recently gone with the Daoist Spirit Immortal to the Taiyan Immortal Domain to seek medicine for his injuries.
