Fuyun Sect.

The Shadow reported back with news.

A chessboard was set before Dao Ling Xian Zun, who was engaged in a game with himself.

After the Shadow recounted the entire incident, Dao Ling Xian Zun curled the corner of his lips, a smile that didn't reach his eyes: "I see. Yuan Yi Xian Zun has indeed played a brilliant move."

The Shadow then asked, "What should we do next?"

"Of course, we must return courtesy with courtesy," Dao Ling Xian Zun replied. "Prepare a grand gift and send it to Tianzhu Peak."

With that, he placed a black piece on the board, causing a large portion of the white pieces to be captured instantly.

The Shadow bowed. "Understood."

"Who could be so cruel and unreasonable?"

Ling Jian Cheng covered the white cloth over the corpse, his expression grave.

Fuyun Sect had received a report from the villagers down the mountain, saying that a murderous demon was terrorizing their village, so he was dispatched by the sect to investigate the case.

Upon arriving at Zhuang'an Village, even before approaching the small courtyard, the overpowering stench from within made him frown.

Entering the courtyard, he was even more shocked.

The scene was bloodier than imagined. The two corpses were in a terrible state, their deaths horrifying.

The deceased had perished under a multitude of blades, their original appearances unrecognizable, and the lingering evil aura in the courtyard was so heavy it would likely take days to dissipate.

Another inner sect disciple of Fuyun Sect stood behind him and echoed, "Indeed, it must be the work of demons."

A rough-looking man suddenly knelt down with a thud and repeatedly bowed to Ling Jian Cheng and the others: "Immortal Master! You must rid us of this demon and avenge my brother!"

Outside the courtyard, the villagers gathered and discussed among themselves.

Ling Jian Cheng waved his hand, and Pang Er was lifted by an invisible force, unable to bow further.

The inner sect disciple You Ying comforted the villagers: "Please rest assured, as disciples of the Immortal Gate, we will take it as our duty to eliminate demons and protect the way, and will not allow the demon to roam freely!"

Ling Jian Cheng asked Pang Er: "Do you have any leads on this demon?"

Pang Er, as if grasping at a lifeline, answered loudly: "Yes! There's a bandit stronghold on the mountain. That demon must be hiding there!"

Ling Jian Cheng and You Ying exchanged a glance and asked again: "Where is the bandit stronghold?"

Pang Er shared all he knew.

Leaving the courtyard, Ling Jian Cheng instructed You Ying: "Go into the village and ask if there are any other clues."

You Ying, in perfect sync with Ling Jian Cheng, understood his unspoken meaning immediately.

Soon, You Ying returned and reported in a low voice: "The villagers all have the same story."

Ling Jian Cheng pondered: "Then let's go up the mountain and have a look."

You Ying smiled and said: "Even if there is a demon hiding on the mountain, it won't escape Senior Brother's discerning eyes."

Ling Jian Cheng and You Ying left the village.
