Fuyun Sect.
At the back mountain of the main peak, an ancient voice drifted down from the cliff, echoing through the valley.
"The soul tablet of the Dao Spirit shattered?"
Bu Donghou knelt at the foot of the stone wall, respectfully saying, "Yes, half an hour ago, the elder guarding the ancestral hall came to report. I dared not delay for a moment and came to inform the ancestor at the first opportunity."
"The last time Yan Yuanqing died, you said the same thing."
The voice from above was thunderous; although it was old, it contained such power that if it were any stronger, it would shatter Bu Donghou's internal organs.
"It is my incompetence!" Bu Donghou immediately pressed his forehead against the ground, his head knocking against it with a thud. "Please forgive me, ancestor!"
Above on the stone wall, in the deep cavern, an elderly man with white hair opened his eyes. His right eye was a normal deep brown, while the left was an unusual cold gray, with a hint of crimson hidden within.
"Enough. If this happens again, you won't need to sit in the position of sect master," the ancestor said coldly.
Bu Donghou dared not argue and lowered his head, saying, "Yes, I will heed the ancestor's teachings."
Although he spoke respectfully, in a hidden corner where no one could see, his gaze was chillingly indifferent.
At that moment, the person on the wall asked, "The disciple conference of the Immortal Sect is approaching. How many disciples have you arranged to come down the mountain?"
"The trials have just begun, and disciples from various peaks have encountered ambushes, returning to the sect one after another," Bu Donghou replied. "Currently, aside from Tianzhu Peak, there is only one disciple from Huangyin Peak still out training; Tianzhu Peak's Lin Chao has died, leaving three disciples: Luo Qi, Bi Lan, and... Yan Zhao, a total of four."
"Four people..."
The person on the wall fell into thought and spoke after a moment, "Understood. You may leave."
Bu Donghou didn't dare to ask further and immediately clasped his hands, saying, "I take my leave."
Once he left the forbidden area, Bu Donghou's expression darkened but only for a moment before returning to normal.
On the cliff of the forbidden area, the ancestor of the Fuyun Sect, known as Yundaozi, sat cross-legged, meditating.
A shadow, resembling a puddle of mud, emerged from the ground, its body covered in dark sludge.
"Ancestor."
The shadow spoke, its voice seeming injured and unclear.
Yundaozi remained expressionless. "What happened?"
The shadow knelt behind him. "Report to the ancestor: Nangong Yin has opened the seal of the Xuan Huang Secret Realm and released the remnant soul of Yan Yuanqing. The Dao Spirit was severely wounded by Yan Yuanqing and subsequently died at Ren Qingyue's hands."
Yundaozi snorted coldly, his tone icy. "The Dao Spirit has always been patient. What caused him to become so impatient?"
The shadow shook its head. "This subordinate does not know."
"Do you really not know?"
"......" The shadow buried its head lower. "It may... be related to the death of Immortal Yuanqing."
