Yan Zhao proposed a constructive suggestion, which caused Feng Jin to furrow her brow slightly, and Jiang Ying to show a complicated expression.
Only Lei Shuang responded with a chuckle and a pat on Yan Zhao's shoulder. "You can't judge a book by its cover; you actually thought of the same thing I did!"
Feng Jin rubbed her forehead, and Jiang Ying glanced at Lei Shuang. "It's just that like attracts like; you two really are like-minded."
Lei Shuang protested loudly, "That's discrimination!"
Jiang Ying replied, "Yes, it is."
"..."
Lei Shuang fell silent, then snorted coldly. "I won't argue with you about this."
Turning to Yan Zhao, she continued, "The idea is good, but it's not feasible."
Yan Zhao asked, "Why not?"
"This is a volcano," Lei Shuang pointed to the nearby lava pool. "As you saw when we arrived, there's a crack at the mountain's peak, and the lava below is very active."
Yan Zhao pondered this, though her expression suggested she wasn't quite understanding.
Lei Shuang elaborated further: "Drilling through the ceiling would not only cause a massive earthquake and landslides but could also trigger a volcanic eruption. This would devastate the nearby towns and villages within a hundred miles."
After hearing this analysis, Yan Zhao seemed to grasp the concept but was still somewhat unclear. The little fox in her arms, however, raised its head.
This was unexpected. She had assumed that these demon people regarded human lives as insignificant, but it seemed they actually considered the impact on ordinary people before taking action.
Although Yan Zhao didn't fully understand why breaking through the ceiling would lead to a volcanic eruption, and didn't know the consequences of such an eruption, she understood Lei Shuang's point: they couldn't just destroy the cave.
So she was unsure of what to do next.
The group fell silent again, until Feng Jin suddenly spoke up. "There's another method."
Everyone turned to look at Feng Jin, who then focused her attention on the little fox in Yan Zhao's arms.
Feng Jin pondered her words for a moment and then said, "Miss Yan's spirit pet can use ice magic. If she applies her magic to my arrow, it should create a temporary foothold on the surface of the lava pool."
She then gestured to the little fox. "Shall we give it a try?"
Yan Zhao was a bit displeased and instinctively hugged the little fox closer.
Feng Jin carefully considered whether the little fox's ice magic could freeze the lava layer, and even if successful, how long the ice surface could remain on the lava. Despite the uncertainties, it was worth a try.
However, Yan Zhao was unwilling and tightly clutched the little fox.
Feng Jin tried to persuade Yan Zhao. "Miss Yan, only by obtaining the treasure can we see the Demon Lord. We need your help."
Yan Zhao remained silent.
The little fox's tail wagged, and it lifted its head to lick Yan Zhao's chin.
Seeing this, Feng Jin tightened her grip on her bow.
Yan Zhao came back to her senses and was comforted by the little fox's affectionate behavior.
