In the dimly lit room, the air was thick with tension. The large, ornate chair in the center of the room looked more like a throne, draped in shadows. A man sat on it, his presence commanding, radiating danger. His eyes were cold, calculating. His face, framed by a sharp jawline and dark stubble, was expressionless. Around him stood his bodyguards, silent, rigid, as if even breathing wrong might bring them harm.

Dimitri Volkov—the name alone sent shivers down the spine of even the toughest criminals. Known for his ruthlessness, he ruled the underworld with an iron fist, and everyone around him feared for their lives in his presence.

The door to the room creaked open, and one of the men who had executed his orders earlier entered, cautiously approaching. His steps faltered slightly, as though each one could be his last.

“Boss,” the man said, bowing his head low. "It's done. The girl is in her room, just like you asked."

Dimitri didn't respond at first. His piercing gaze never left the man, his fingers tracing the arm of his chair slowly, almost thoughtfully. Then, his lips curled into a twisted smirk.

“Good,” he finally said, his voice low, but dripping with menace. “ She must be quite scared...”

The man nodded, unsure of how to respond. “Yes, boss. She was terrified...”

Dimitri chuckled—a sick, hollow sound that echoed through the room, making the guards shift uncomfortably where they stood. There was madness in that laugh, something unhinged.

“Terrified,” he repeated, almost savoring the word. “Perfect.”

The room fell silent again, the weight of Dimitri’s presence suffocating. His bodyguards stood motionless, their hands at their sides, afraid to even blink. One of them, the bolder of the group, dared to speak up.

“If that’s all, boss, we’ll take our leave now,” the man said, trying to keep his voice steady.

Dimitri’s eyes snapped to him. In an instant, his smirk vanished, replaced by a cold, dark glare. The room grew colder as he slowly rose from his chair, the sound of his boots hitting the floor with each deliberate, powerful step. He took his time, each movement calculated, as if he enjoyed the fear that spread through the room like poison.

“No one leaves,” Dimitri said, his voice deadly calm, “until I say so.”

Without warning, he pulled out his gun and fired a single shot, hitting the man in the leg. The loud crack of the gunshot echoed in the room as the man collapsed, clutching his bleeding leg, gasping in pain.

The other bodyguards flinched, their faces drained of color, but none dared move. Dimitri crouched down beside the wounded man, tilting his head slightly, his eyes gleaming with sadistic amusement.

“You thought you could touch my girl and just walk away?” Dimitri’s voice was soft, almost a whisper, but it was filled with venom. He chuckled darkly, leaning in closer. “No one touches what belongs to me. No one.”

The wounded man tried to speak, to plead, but Dimitri raised a finger to his lips, mocking him. “Shh... I’m not finished yet.”

He stood up, towering over the man, his expression one of pure cruelty. In a swift motion, he fired another shot—this time straight into the man’s heart. The man’s body fell limp, lifeless.

Dimitri let out a low, satisfied laugh as he turned to face the other two men who had come with the wounded one. They were shaking, barely able to meet his gaze.

“You two... you helped him, didn’t you?” Dimitri asked, his tone light, but the underlying threat clear.

“Boss, please—” one of them stammered, but before he could finish, Dimitri shot him in the chest, then turned to the last man standing.

“Please, boss! I didn’t—”

Dimitri raised his gun again, firing without hesitation. The man dropped dead at his feet, a pool of blood slowly spreading beneath him. The smell of death and gunpowder filled the air.

Dimitri lowered the gun, exhaling slowly, as if the act of killing had been nothing more than a mild inconvenience. He looked at the lifeless bodies scattered around the room and then smiled, a sick, twisted grin.

“Now,” he said to himself, his voice a low growl, “it’s time to meet my doll.”

He turned, walking out of the room with the same slow, deliberate steps, his gun still in hand, the madness in his eyes growing stronger with every step he took toward Crystal.
