As Crystal walked past Hazel’s room, she heard soft, muffled sobs. Pausing, she felt a pang in her chest and couldn’t resist stepping inside. There, she found Hazel curled up, her head resting on her knees, her shoulders trembling as she cried.

“Hazel…” Crystal called gently.

Hazel slowly lifted her head, her red-rimmed eyes meeting Crystal’s. “Please… call Dimitri,” she whispered, her voice breaking.

Crystal moved closer, sitting beside her. “Shh… Hazel,” she murmured, placing a comforting hand on Hazel’s knee.

“I want him here,” Hazel cried. “Tell that guy who forced me to bring  Dimitri back!” Her face twisted in frustration.

Crystal almost chuckled, though sadness lingered in her gaze. “That guy… he’s my brother, Elijah.”

“I don’t care who he is. I only care about Dimitri,” Hazel said defiantly, wiping her tears but still sniffling.

Crystal’s smile faded. She lowered her head, her own heart aching. “He must love you deeply,” she said softly, almost to herself, the words stinging more than she expected.

“Of course he does!” Hazel replied, her voice gaining strength. “Dimitri loves me more than anyone. He’s always there, always making me laugh, teasing me, calling me his.” Hazel’s face softened, a small, tender smile appearing as she recalled their moments together.

Crystal’s mind flashed back to her own memories with Dimitri—the laughter, the stolen glances, the warmth she thought was real. But now, it all felt like a cruel game, and the realization crushed her. Had any of it been true?

“Let me show you his picture,” Hazel offered, breaking Crystal’s thoughts.

“I… I’ve seen him—” Crystal started, but Hazel already pulled a picture out

“There!” Hazel said, holding up the picture.

Crystal’s got shocked looking at the picture

“This is Dimitri?” Crystal asked, shock evident in her voice.

Hazel nodded, unaware of the storm of emotions rising within Crystal. “Yes… my Dimitri.”

Crystal just stared at the photo not believing it .
