Dimitri returned, his presence dominating the room as he carried a tray filled with an array of delicious food. The aroma wafted through the air, but Crystal’s stomach twisted in anxiety, overshadowing any appetite she might have had. He set the tray on the bed and settled across from her, his dark eyes locked onto her with an intensity that made her uneasy.

“Why aren’t you eating?” he asked, a teasing lilt in his voice.

Crystal hesitated, biting her lip, unsure of how to respond. “Are you really Dimitri?” she finally blurted out, the reality of her situation crashing over her like a cold wave.

“The mafia Don himself,” he replied with a smirk, relishing the fear that flickered in her eyes. “My doll is scared now? Funny, you weren’t scared that night.”

Her breath hitched. “You... you heard us?”

He leaned back, a confident grin stretching across his lips. “Of course, I did.”

As if summoned by his words, a flashback enveloped her mind, taking her to a vibrant college party beneath the stars.

Flashback

Laughter echoed through the night as groups of students mingled in the open park, their voices blending with the gentle rustling of leaves. Crystal and her friends had gathered in a circle, the warm summer air thick with excitement and the sweet scent of freedom. She was tipsy, her laughter bubbling up uncontrollably as she sipped from a drink, feeling the giddy thrill of the night.

In the distance, Dimitri leaned against a sturdy tree trunk, his back turned as he spoke on the phone, exuding an air of danger and confidence that turned heads. He overheard snippets of conversation drifting through the night air, the girls buzzing with excitement about him.

“Have you heard about Dimitri Volkov?” one of her friends exclaimed, wide-eyed and leaning closer. “They say he’s cold-blooded and ruthless. People fear him!”

Another friend shivered dramatically. “He’s a monster! They say he doesn’t hesitate to eliminate anyone who crosses him.”

Dimitri stood a little taller, a proud smile creeping onto his face as he listened to their words. He enjoyed the fear and respect he commanded, the whispers of his reputation only fueling his ego. But then he heard a different voice, light and teasing, breaking through the shadows of his dark world.

“ he sounds just like my Wattpad boyfriend!” Crystal giggled, her tipsy bravado shining through. “If I could have anyone, I’d want someone like him. God, please bring me Dimitri! If not him, then someone just like him to whisk me away from this boring life and shower me with love and luxury !”

His heart skipped a beat as he turned to catch a glimpse of her. There she was, a stunning 20-year-old girl with long, flowing hair that danced in the breeze and sparkling eyes filled with innocence and hope. In that moment, amidst the laughter and fear of his name, Dimitri felt an unexpected pull toward her, as if fate had intertwined their paths.

Her friends laughed at her ridiculous wish, playfully urging her to pray for her dream man. “Make a wish, Crystal! Maybe he’ll come ” they teased, their laughter ringing out into the night.

Dimitri, hidden behind the tree, felt an unfamiliar warmth spread through him. He had never been one for dreams or wishes, but as he watched her, he knew in that instant: this girl was different.

End of flashback

“Your prayer has been heard, doll,” he said , a smirk curling at his lips, “and I’m here to make it a reality.”
