chapter 85

The air was thick with tension as Hazel's
father wiped blood from his hands, his
eyes dark and gleaming with a twisted
satisfaction. He turned toward the group
tied up in the corner, flashing a chilling
smile that made every nerve in their
bodies freeze. His gaze fell on Crystal,
who was trembling, her face pale with
fear.

"Oh... someone looks terrified"' he
sneered, his voice dripping with
menace. He took slow, deliberate steps
toward her, his smile widening as he
noticed her shrinking back.

"Stay away from my sister!" Elijah
shouted, his voice cracking with
desperation as he struggled against the
ropes binding him.

"Stop me if you can," Hazel's father
taunted, his gaze flickering to Elijah, a
glint of mockery in his eyes. With a
mocking laugh, he turned his attention
back to Crystal, drawing closer.

Dimitri and Elijah strained against their
restraints, muscles aching, fury and
helplessness blazing in their eyes as
they watched Hazel's father reach out,
his bloody fingers grazing Crystal's face.
She flinched as his touch left smears of
blood on her skin.

"This scared already? I haven't even
started yet," he whispered, his tone as
dark as his intentions. "Next, it'll be
you in their place," he said to her , gesturing to the lifeless bodies of the men he'd already disposed of.

"Don't you dare lay a hand on her!"
Dimitri spat, fury dripping from his
words.

Hazel's father's eyes flashed, and in a
heartbeat, he pulled out a gun, pressing
it hard against Hazel's forehead. She
gasped, her entire body trembling, eyes
squeezing shut as fear gripped her.

"One more word, and I'll show you
exactly what I can do," he hissed.

Elijah clenched his fists, swallowing his
terror. "She has nothing to do with this.
Your rivalry is with our family; handle it
like a man," he said, his voice steady but
strained.

Hazel's father let out a cold, humorless
laugh. "She had nothing to do with it...
until she became the reason my
son-in-law betrayed my daughter." He
raised his voice, his anger flaring.

Dimitri's eyes burned with defiance. "I
am not your son-in-law! We already talked about it "

Hazel's father's face twisted with rage
as he turned back to Crystal, who was
now crying silently, her body shaking as
she tried to brace herself against the
horror unfolding before her.

"You're next" he hissed at her, his voice
sharp as a blade. "Just wait "

He gestured to his men, who had been
watching silently. "Keep an eye on them,'
he barked before turning on his heel and
disappearing from the room, leaving a
silence thick with dread.
