Crystal stepped out of the bathroom,
water droplets still clinging to her damp
skin as she towel-dried her hair. The
fresh scent of soap lingered around her,
and fora moment, she relished the
small relief of solitude. But as she
entered the bedroom, her heart jumped
when she saw Dimitri already sitting on
the edge of the bed, his tall frame
hunched slightly as he waited."Good morning, doll," his deep, smooth
voice greeted her, accompanied by an
unnerving smile that made the air in the
room feel heavier. Her grip on the towel tightened as she
swallowed hard, her pulse racing. "What
are you doing here?"Dimitri chuckled lightly, his dark eyes
scanning her from head to toe. "What
else? I'm here to make sure you have
breakfast. Can't have my doll going
hungry, can I?"Crystal's stomach twisted in knots. She
wasn't hungry, not for food anyway. She
was starved for freedom, for the life she
once had, but his presence was a
constant reminder that she no longer
controlled her fate."Let me go" she said, her voice
more strained than she intended. "I don't
belong here."He raised an eyebrow, his amusement
never faltering. "No? Then where do you
belong, Crystal? Out there, in that
pathetic world you were trying so hard
to escape? College, assignments, and
that meaningless routine? I thought you
wanted out.""That's not true," she protested, her
frustration rising. "I was drunk. I didn't
know what I was saying.Dimitri leaned back, resting his arm
casually on the headboard, still eyeing
her with that relentless teasing look."Drunk, huh? Funny how people tell the
truth when they're drunk. Maybe you
didn't realize it, but I think you wanted
this life, with me."Crystal's mind raced for a rebuttal, but
the words caught in her throat. The truth
was muddled in her mind. She
remembered the night when her world
had spiraled out of control, her drunken
plea for an escape. It had been Dimitri
who had acted on it, who had taken her
words and made them into something
terrifyingly real."You're wrong," she said, shaking her
head. "I didn't ask for this."He stood slowly, stretching his arms
above his head in a lazy, predatory
movement as if he had all the time in
the world. "Really? Well, you seem to be
getting comfortable here, doll. You even
took a bath all on your own. Doesn't
sound like someone who's planning to
leave."His eyes gleamed with mischief as he
stepped closer, his words meant to
provoke her.Crystal's skin prickled under his gaze."What else did you expect me to do? Cry and smell all day?"
Dimitri chuckled softly. "You could if you
wanted to. But you're stronger than that,
aren't you? Tougher."Crystal could feel her heart pounding in
her chest, a mix of fear and anger
boiling inside her.His teasing left her feeling vulnerable,
but she couldn't let him see that. His gaze lingered on her for a moment
longer before his lips curved into
wicked grin. "So, what do you say, doll?
How about we do what your Wattpad
boyfriends do?"The words caught her off guard, and her
eyes widened as her cheeks flushed.
"What do you mean?""You know exactly what I mean." He
stepped closer, his tall frame looming
over her as he caged her against the
wall, his hands on either side of her."Isn't this what you read about? The
mafia, the danger... the thrilI?"Her breath hitched, and she pressed her
back harder against the wall as if it
could swallow her up. He was so close
now that she could feel the warmth of
his breath on her face. His scent was
overwhelming, a mix of expensive
cologne and something darker, more
dangerous."You look breathtaking, doll," he
whispered, his voice low and seductive.
His lips brushed against her ear, sending
a shiver down her spine. She pushed him away, but it was like
trying to move a mountain. He barely
budged, his smirk only growing as he
allowed her a moment of space."I don't know what you think you've
read," she stammered, trying to keep her
Voice steady.Dimitri reached into his back pocket,
pulling out her phone. Her blood ran
cold. He had her phone. She lunged for
it, but he held it above her head, teasing
her."Oh, but I do know what you've read," he
said, grinning as he waved the phone
just out of reach. "You're really into
those mafia and kidnapping stories,
aren't you? Dream come true for you,
huh, doll?""Give it back!" she demanded, her voice
trembling as she tried to grab it again,
but he was too tall. His hand came
down and snaked around her waist,
pulling her closer to him effortlessly."Kiss me," he said, his voice a dark
whisper. "Kiss me, and I'll give you your
phone back."Crystal stared up at him, wide-eyed and
confused. His teasing had shifted into
something more dangerous, more real.He leaned closer, so close that his lips
were just inches from hers, and the heat
of his body seeped into her skin. Her breath came in ragged gasps, and
for a moment, she could only blink up at
him, unsure of what to do. He laughed
softly at her expression, his amusement
evident."Isn't this how your mafia villains talk,
doll?" he taunted."Go to hell," she spat, trying to push him
away again, but his chest was like a
solid wall beneath her hands. He grinned, leaning even closer, his lips
hovering over hers. "I'm aiming for
heaven, I think."His hand slid from her waist to the back
of her neck, pulling her in as his other
hand stayed firmly on her lower back.
Crystal's heart pounded in her chest,
and she squeezed her eyes shut, her
hands gripping the front of his shirt as if
she could keep him at bay that way. She
felt his breath against her lips, and her
stomach churned with both fear and
something she couldn't quite name.Just as his lips were about to meet hers,
a sharp knock sounded on the door,
cutting through the tension like a knife."Boss" a voice called from outside.
Crystal's eyes flew open, and she
quickly shoved herself away from him,
her heart still racing as she stumbled
back. Dimitri's expression darkened with
frustration, his jaw tightening as he
glared at the door."What?" he growled, his voice laced with
irritation."They've arrived"' the guard said from
the other side of the door.Dimitri sighed, running a hand through
his hair before turning back to Crystal.
"Pretty desperate, I guess," he muttered
under his breath, his annoyance clear. He glanced at her, a smirk creeping back
onto his face. "Eat, doll. After I finish my
work today, I'll show you around our
home."He stepped toward her again, his fingers
brushing her arm as if to remind her of
his control, but this time, she flinched
and moved out of his reach. His eyes
narrowed slightly, but the smirk
remained."You're not getting away from me,
Crystal," he said softly, almost like a
promise. Then, with one last lingering
look, he turned and walked toward the
door, his tall frame casting a long
shadow in the room. "Don't forget. I'll be
back."The door clicked shut behind him,
leaving Crystal alone in the suffocating
silence. She stood there, her breath still
shallow as she tried to calm the storm
of emotions raging inside her. Fear,
anger, confusion, and something else-
something that terrified her even more-
swirled in her chest. She had to get out. But how?
