Crystal sat on the bed, her mind racing as she tried to piece together an escape plan. Her heart pounded in her chest, and though fear lingered in every corner of the room, she clung to the hope that her family was out there, looking for her. They had to be. Her parents wouldn't rest until they found her, she was sure of that.
But as comforting as that thought was, she couldn't just wait around. She needed to do something-anything-to help herself. Her eyes scanned the room, searching for something she could use, some weakness in the walls or a crack in the security. She couldn't afford to sit still any longer.
The faint sound of voices outside the door suddenly caught her attention. She couldn't make out what was being said, but the fact that there were people nearby sparked a surge of hope within her. Maybe there was a way to get someone's attention, to signal for help.
She stood up, pacing the room nervously.
But before she could take another step, the door burst open with a loud bang. Crystal jumped, her pulse quickening as two men stormed into the room. They were strangers-rough, intimidating, and dangerous-looking. Her stomach dropped as she took a step back, trying to make sense of what was happening."What are you doing here?" she demanded, her voice shaky but defiant.
One of the men didn't answer. Instead, he pulled something out of his pocket-a small syringe, glinting ominously in the dim light.
"No... no, please," she whispered, shaking her head as panic surged through her. She backed away, her hands instinctively raising in defense.
But before she could make a move, she heard voices just outside the room. A woman's voice, panicked and uncertain, reached her ears. "What are the police doing here?" The words sent a wave of relief crashing over her. The police were here! They had come for her!
Crystal's eyes widened, and she opened her mouth to scream, to call for help. This was her chance!
But before she could let out a sound, one of the men lunged toward her. His hand was rough as it clamped over her mouth, muffling her cries. She kicked and struggled, trying to break free, but he was too strong, his grip tightening around her as he held her in place. Her muffled screams echoed through the room, her heart pounding in her chest.
She fought with everything she had, but it was no use. The second man approached her swiftly, the syringe glistening in his hand. Her eyes widened in terror as he came closer. She shook her head violently, trying to plead with her eyes, but he showed no mercy.
In one swift motion, the needle pierced her skin, and a sharp, burning pain shot through her arm. Crystal gasped, her body tensing as the drug coursed through her veins. The world around her began to blur, her vision fading as her muscles went limp.
She tried to stay awake, to fight the overwhelming drowsiness that was pulling her under. But no matter how hard she fought, the darkness swallowed her whole.
Her last thought before unconsciousness claimed her was a fleeting hope-had the police really come for her?
