Crystal gathered every ounce of strength she had left, twisting and wrenching her arms free from Hazel's father’s men. She stumbled forward, her knees hitting the ground before Dimitri, who was still kneeling, battered and broken. His head snapped up in shock, and his bruised face softened as he took in her tear-streaked expression.
“Dimitri, stop,” she choked, her voice trembling. Tears spilled from her eyes as she reached for him, her hands shaking as she cupped his face. “Stop begging... You don’t need to do this.”
His gaze softened, raw and vulnerable, as he looked into her eyes, his own filling with unshed tears. “Crystal... I can’t let him hurt you,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. “I’d do anything, anything to keep you safe.”
A tear traced down her cheek as she whispered, “You don’t have to”
Dimitri reached up, gently brushing a tear from her cheek. His hand lingered, trembling slightly as he caressed her face, memorizing every inch of her. “I love you, Crystal. Truly, deeply. I never lied about that. I never cheated on you. You’re everything to me.”
A shaky breath escaped her as she nodded, her fingers tracing the bruises on his face with tender care. “I can see it, Dimitri. I know you love me. I know.”
“I would rather die than betray you,” he murmured, his voice barely a whisper.
Her hand slipped to his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart, matching her own frantic rhythm. “Dimitri… I feel the same. I can’t stand to see you like this, hurt because of me.”
He leaned closer, their foreheads touching, his eyes closed as he absorbed the closeness, the warmth of her, as though grounding himself in her presence. “I swear, Crystal. I’ll fight for you until my last breath. No one will ever come between us. Not even him.”
But before they could say anything more, a harsh hand tangled into Crystal’s hair, yanking her backward. She cried out, her eyes widening in pain as Hazel’s father pulled her away from Dimitri.
“Enough,” he sneered, dragging her up and away from him. “This little love scene has gone on long enough.”
Dimitri surged forward instinctively, but Hazel’s father’s men stepped in, restraining him as he struggled to reach her, his voice a desperate roar. “Let her go! Don’t touch her!”
But Hazel’s father only tightened his grip on Crystal, smirking with sadistic pleasure. “Look at you two. Pathetic. Love this powerful—so easy to break.” He laughed coldly, relishing the anguish in their eyes as he forced them apart, knowing that even separated, they would fight for each other with every fiber of their beings.
The love they had, raw and unyielding, radiated through every defiant glance they exchanged, each whisper of their names, as they silently promised each other that this wasn’t the end. Their love, battered and tested, remained unbreakable, and nothing would tear them apart—not even the cruelty of the man who held them captive.
