Dimitri walked into Crystal’s room. He could feel the tension, see the fear in her eyes, and it tore at him. "Crystal, let me explain—" he began, but she quickly cut him off, her voice trembling.

“Explain what?” she snapped. “That you’ve been lying to me this whole time? That this has all been for some kind of revenge?”

Dimitri took a step forward, but she recoiled, shaking her head. “What did I do wrong, Dimitri? What could I have done that made you want to take revenge on me? Was it something from that night?” Her voice cracked, her mind running wild with possibilities. “Did I do something... did I hurt you somehow? I don’t even remember that night clearly—I was drunk. If I did something wrong, please forgive me, but let me go.”

His heart twisted seeing her so scared, so confused.

Her eyes were wide, her breathing shallow as she took a step back, trembling. “So, all this time, you’ve just been keeping me here for some revenge, haven’t you? Just let me go. I don’t know what I did, but I’m sorry. If it was that night, if I hurt you somehow, just... let me go.”

Dimitri felt a pang of guilt, realizing how deeply she had misunderstood everything. He reached out, but she flinched away, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. “I would never let you go,” he said softly.

Her voice wavered as she stared at him, unsure of what to believe. “Then how are you going to get your revenge? Are you planning to... kill me?” she whispered, her hands trembling at her sides.

A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips. The thought was so far from the truth, yet seeing how terrified she was made him feel both amused and heartbroken. “Kill you? Is that what you think?”

“I must have done something terrible,” she continued, more to herself than to him. “But I don’t remember... if I did, please forgive me.”

Dimitri saw the tears welling up in her eyes, and his teasing mood shifted. “You did do something,” he said, his voice suddenly serious.

Crystal froze, her heart pounding. “What did I do?” she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Dimitri’s smile widened just a bit, though there was something dark and teasing in his eyes now. “You shot someone.”

The words hit Crystal like a punch to the gut. Her eyes went wide, and she took a shaky step back. “No,” she whispered, shaking her head violently. “I didn’t... I couldn’t...”

“You did,” Dimitri said, his tone steady, as if stating a fact that couldn’t be denied.

A tear spilled from her eye as she raised a trembling hand to her mouth, trying to stifle a sob. “I can’t... I couldn’t have...”

“You did,” he repeated, taking a step closer to her.

Crystal's mind was spinning. Had she really shot someone? She couldn’t remember everything from that night. The blurry fragments of memories came rushing back—the music, the drinks, the flashing lights—but nothing that could explain something as horrible as this. She sank down onto the bed, burying her face in her hands. “No... no, I couldn’t have.”

Dimitri knelt beside her, his voice soft but firm. “You did, Crystal.”

She looked up at him, her eyes filled with terror. “But... but I don’t even remember...”

“You were drunk,” Dimitri said, his voice calm, but there was no mercy in his tone. “You probably don’t remember it at all.”

Her whole body shook as she sobbed, completely consumed by the fear of what she thought she’d done. “I didn’t mean to... I swear I didn’t mean to...”

Dimitri gently wiped away a tear from her cheek. “It’s okay.”

She stared at him, confused.
