At the construction site, tension hung thick in the air as Elijah, Crystal’s brother, gripped Dimitri’s collar with fierce desperation. His voice was rough, brimming with fury, as he demanded, “Where is she? Tell me where my sister is!”
Dimitri’s cool demeanor never faltered. He tilted his head, a smug smile playing on his lips. “I don’t even know who your sister is. Why do you keep coming after me like this?”
Elijah’s jaw tightened, his frustration pouring into every word. “Don’t act innocent. I know you’re taking revenge! She’s innocent in all of this! Let her go—she doesn’t know anything.”
Dimitri’s smile only widened as if he found the whole situation amusing. “Innocent, you say? Well, then you’d better find her soon. It’s easy to ruin innocent girls.”
Elijah’s grip tightened, his rage boiling over. But before he could act, Dimitri’s bodyguards moved in, their hands resting on the guns at their sides, ready to strike. Elijah’s heart raced, but Dimitri raised a hand, signaling for them to stop. “Let him finish his little tantrum,” Dimitri said, still calm, still mocking.
Elijah’s face burned with desperation. “I swear, if you’ve hurt my sister in any way, I’ll kill you.”
Dimitri leaned in slightly, his voice soft but menacing. “Gladly,” he whispered, his tone dripping with dark amusement.
With one last surge of fury, Elijah let go of Dimitri’s collar, his hands shaking as they dropped to his sides. He hated feeling so powerless, hated the smug look that never left Dimitri’s face.
“I hope you find her soon, before anything bad happens to her,” Dimitri said, adjusting his collar as though the entire altercation had been nothing more than a minor inconvenience. “And maybe, just maybe, you’ll stop doubting me.”
As Dimitri turned to walk away, Elijah could feel his blood boiling. Dimitri’s arrogance, his indifference to their suffering, was almost unbearable. It reminded him too much of what had happened . He knew Dimitri is playing a same game, denying any involvement until it was too late.
But Elijah swore it wouldn’t be the same this time. He wouldn’t let Crystal suffer the same fate.
Dimitri, on the other hand, relished the moment. Watching Elijah crumble under the weight of his own desperation brought him a sick sense of satisfaction. He wasn’t going to harm Crystal. But watching Elijah suffer, watching him break under the pressure, was more than enough.
With his head held high, Dimitri walked away from the scene like a king, his bodyguards trailing behind, while Elijah stood rooted to the spot, fury and helplessness swirling inside him. The same pain that had once torn through Dimitri’s family was now gnawing at Elijah, and Dimitri knew it. That was the revenge he sought—making them feel every ounce of it.
