Dimitri entered the room, carrying a tray of food. His face already showed disappointment, expecting Crystal to reject it again. It had been three days since the incident, and she hadn’t eaten anything. He quietly placed the food on the table, preparing himself to beg her to eat.
Before he could speak, Crystal surprised him by moving toward the table. "What’s for today?" she asked, her voice casual, almost as if nothing had happened. Drimti blinked in shock, unsure if he was hearing her right.
"It smells nice," she commented, glancing at the food. "Let's eat." She pulled out a chair and sat down.
He stood there for a moment, just staring at her. "What?" she asked, noticing his confusion.
He slowly sat down across from her. "You’re... you’re not angry anymore?"
"I am," she muttered under her breath, a hint of frustration still lingering in her tone. She was about to take a bite when he stopped her.
"Let me show you first, it’s not drugged," he said quickly, reaching for her spoon.
"There’s no need," she replied, pulling the spoon back. "Oh, we have my favorite dish today," she added, her voice a little too cheerful, and she started eating.
As she took her first bite, her face lit up. "Gosh, this is so tasty! I feel like going and kissing the person who made this."
"Go ahead," Dimitri said, a teasing smile playing on his lips.
She paused, narrowing her eyes. "What do you mean?"
"Kiss me, then, doll," he said, the smile growing wider.
Crystal didn’t catch on at first, but when the realization hit her, she looked at him, her eyes widening. "Wait... you made this?"
He nodded. "Hmm."
She raised an eyebrow. "You’re learning fast."
"Anything for you, doll," he replied softly, watching her with admiration as she continued to eat. His heart felt lighter seeing her enjoying the food, as if a burden had been lifted from his chest.
"You’ve forgiven me?" he asked, his voice filled with hope.
"Not completely," she answered, still focused on her meal.
"And what will it take for you to forgive me completely?"
"A promise that you won’t ever do it again," she said firmly, her eyes finally meeting his.
"I promise," Dimitri said without hesitation. "Just… don’t be mad at me like this. My heart was breaking seeing you hate me."
Crystal swallowed, looking at him thoughtfully. I still hate you, she thought, but didn’t say it aloud.
"Wanna say something?" Dimitri asked, sensing there was more on her mind.
"Yeah," she said, setting her spoon down for a moment.
"Say it," he urged, leaning forward slightly.
"I want to look around the house. I get so bored being stuck in this room," she said, her voice carrying a hint of innocence.
Dimitri hesitated. "I’m sorry, doll, I’m really busy today."
"I can look on my own," she suggested, her voice light and nonchalant.
He looked at her, clearly doubting her intentions. "Can’t I?" she asked, batting her eyes just enough to seem harmless.
After a moment, he relented. "Okay."
"Thank you!" she said, her voice filled with excitement, and she quickly returned to her meal.
Once she was done, Dimitri stood, preparing to leave. He was about to lock the door when Crystal spoke up again. "Leave it open," she said, her voice soft but filled with hope.
He paused, looking at her carefully. "Please?" she added, her eyes wide with a pleading look.
Dimitri sighed, but couldn’t resist. "As you say, doll." He left the door unlocked and walked out.
Crystal couldn’t believe it. He had actually listened to her. Deep down, she knew he would, but part of her still doubted. For the last three days, she had been planning her escape, but locked in this room, there was little she could do. She needed to get out, and for that, she had to convince Dimitri to trust her. She had seen how sad he was because of her anger, so she decided to use that to her advantage—pretending she wasn’t angry anymore. She knew that right now, he would do anything to make her happy.
Dimitri, though happy she was talking to him again, sensed something was off. There was a calculating look in her eyes, like she had a plan. But being so deeply in love with her, he ignored his doubts. He was just grateful she wasn’t giving him the cold shoulder anymore.
