Dimitri   entered her room with a tray of food in his hands shaking just a little. His chest tightened as he saw Crystal sitting on the bed, her back to him, her body tense with anger. The silence between them was suffocating, thick with everything left unsaid.

“Crystal,” he called softly, but she didn’t turn. She didn’t even acknowledge him.

He set the tray down on the small table, his eyes never leaving her. “I brought you food,” he said, his voice trying to stay calm. “You haven’t eaten anything since yesterday. You need to eat.”

Still, no response.

“I said eat,” his voice grew firmer, frustration creeping in. He was trying, but she wasn’t giving him anything. His patience was thinning.

Crystal remained still, her silence louder than any words.

Dimitri clenched his jaw, feeling his anger flare. He paced for a moment, trying to control it. “I didn’t drug you to do anything bad to you,” he finally snapped, his emotions getting the better of him.

“Who knows?” she shot back, her voice cold and distant, still not looking at him.

Her words cut deep, and for a moment, he felt like he couldn’t breathe. When he looked closer, he saw the glimmer of tears in her eyes. It broke him.

“Crystal, please,” he softened, stepping closer to her. “Eat. You haven’t eaten anything since yesterday. I don’t want you to get sick.”

“I won’t,” she said stubbornly, her voice tight with anger. She didn’t even glance his way.

Dimitri’s hands curled into fists at his sides. He hated seeing her like this—so hurt, so distant from him. “I swear,” he said, almost desperately, “I didn’t drug it this time and won’t ever do it again. I promise.”

She finally turned her head, just slightly, her eyes locking onto his for the briefest moment before she turned away again, her silence louder than any refusal.

“Look,” Dimitri pleaded, grabbing a fork and taking a bite of the food himself. “See? I’m eating it. If I had drugged it, I wouldn’t eat it, right?”

Crystal didn’t budge, her face set in a stony mask. “I won’t eat anything you’ve touched,” she muttered coldly.

Her words pierced his heart, and for a moment, he felt like he was drowning in guilt. The weight of her anger was crushing him, suffocating him. He had messed up. He knew that. But seeing her like this, knowing he had caused it, was unbearable.

“Crystal, please,” he whispered, setting the fork down and stepping closer to her. “I’m sorry. I am. I never meant for things to go this far. I didn’t want to hurt you. I was just... I was scared. Scared of losing you.”

She remained silent, her head turned away, refusing to meet his gaze.

“Please,” he begged, his voice cracking. “I know you hate me right now. I can see it in your eyes. But forgive me this time, once please .”

Still, she said nothing, and the coldness between them grew thicker.

“I’m sorry,” Dimitri whispered again, his voice hollow. “I’m so sorry.”

But her anger hung in the air like a wall between them, and no matter what he said, it wouldn’t fall. The girl he loved sat before him, hurting, and nothing he did could fix it. He stood there, lost, helpless, watching as her silent fury killed him slowly.
