As Dimitri stood outside a home, the tension in the air was palpable. His thoughts were scattered, but they were interrupted when a man approached, a heavy hand clapping onto Dimitri's shoulder.
"I knew it, my son," the man said, pulling Dimitri into a tight embrace. "I knew you would take our revenge. That's why you're the only one fit to lead."
Dimitri returned the embrace, though his expression remained cold. "It had to be done," he replied flatly.
The man pulled back, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction. "Where is that girl? In your home?" he asked, his tone almost casual, though his words were anything but. "I hope you're treating her as she deserves. Eye for an eye, after all."
"Exactly," Dimitri said, his voice devoid of emotion.
The man smiled darkly, seemingly satisfied with the answer. Before he could say more, his phone rang. He glanced at the screen and then back at Dimitri.
"Go on," he said, gesturing toward the house. "Your fiancée is waiting inside. I’ll catch up after I take this call."
"Sure," Dimitri replied, his face unreadable. He turned toward the door, his mind clouded with conflicting thoughts, as the weight of everything he was doing began to press down on him.
Without another word, he walked inside. As soon as he entered, the sound of footsteps rushed toward him, and before he could react, a pair of arms wrapped around him tightly. A young woman with long, flowing hair and a bright smile buried her face into his chest.
"I missed you," she whispered, her voice soft and affectionate, as she wrapped her arms around Dimitri.
"I missed you too," Dimitri replied, his voice smooth and easy.
The girl pulled back just enough to meet his gaze, her eyes shining with happiness. She was beautiful, her long hair cascading down her back, her smile filled with warmth that made the room feel brighter. Dimitri’s hand found its way to her cheek, gently brushing it.
“You’ve been gone for so long,” she said with a teasing pout, leaning in closer as though she couldn’t bear to let him go.
“I know, but I’m here now,” Dimitri replied, his tone relaxed.
She smiled wider, pressing herself against him
“You should stay longer this time,” she said, her voice softening as she settled against him. “I missed having you around.”
Dimitri nodded, pulling her closer. "I’ll stay as long as you want."
