Elijah stepped into his home, his gaze sharp and calculating. One of his men approached him swiftly.
"She’s in the basement, sir," the man reported.
"Good," Elijah replied, his voice cold. "And her details?"
"The file is in your study, sir."
With a slight nod, Elijah dismissed him. "You can leave."
Without another word, he made his way to his room, where he washed up and changed, refreshing himself after a long day. His mind buzzed with thoughts about the girl downstairs, but he kept them restrained, focused on the task at hand.
Once ready, Elijah headed to his study. He settled into his leather chair, the file waiting for him on the desk. He opened it, flipping through the pages, expecting crucial information. However, as he scanned the file, he grew visibly irritated.
"These idiots forgot to attach a picture," he muttered under his breath, shaking his head. "Not that it matters. I’m not interested in seeing anyone who’s in league with Dimitri—especially not someone involved in his sick games, playing with the feelings of an innocent girl."
He continued reading, scanning through the initial details.
"Name: Hazel. Age: 23. Height: 5’3. Eye color: black," he read, his frustration mounting. "This is not what I asked for." He pushed the file aside, annoyance flaring. "I don’t need these trivial details."
But then something caught his eye—a line that made him pause. His hand froze as he read it again, slower this time, his jaw tensing.
"Fiancée? She’s Dimitri’s fiancée?" he murmured in disbelief. "So, she’s this important to him."
He leaned back, the realization settling in as a slow smirk curved his lips. "And she’s ill? Dimitri, you truly are despicable, "
Elijah’s mind whirled with possibilities. "This changes things," he thought aloud. "Perhaps I can use this... maybe a deal will do."
Without hesitation, he picked up his phone, dialing Dimitri’s number, a cold resolve in his eyes. It was time to turn the tables.
