The Resurface Hound (Story 10 - Chapter 1)

Making a quick note: Dexx has a new hairstyle now. It’s a middle part with two fins of his head now, both being connected to two separate lures on his forehead that bend downwards, and the glowing yellow dots are now running along the fins beside the lures. Finally managed to find the perfect hairstyle to change it to, and I’ve been meaning to do this for a while. 

With Venno: 

The Velociraptor was sitting at her desk, checking over some of the papers from the more recent bounties that had just been brought in. 

It had been a couple of months since she and Dexx came back from their honeymoon. 

A couple of months since Roxxane and DJ got back together and revealed their new engagement. 

And a couple of months since Barry and Fiona decided that they would be having their own wedding in just two days. 

It was going to take place at the casino, just like with her and Dexx’s wedding. Most of the decorations had been set up, the only things that didn’t just being the chairs, Fiona having decided to leave them for last considering she didn’t want them getting in the way since they fill up the majority of the lobby. All that had to be done were the flowers and cake, which would have to be dropped off from their own respective shops, and DJ’s turntable which he will be bringing himself, all of which would be done on the day of the wedding. 

Venno smiled when she heard her daughter giggling, the Velociraptor turning her attention to the young Velociraptor Angler standing up in her playpen with a letter block in hand.

Elvira was only a few months old, a little under a year now, and she had already learned how to walk. 

“Mama” called Elvira, the young Velociraptor Angler raising her arms, indicating she wanted to be picked up. 

Venno chuckled, the Velociraptor deciding to take a break from her work by getting up and walking over to the playpen, picking up her daughter who in response hugged her tightly. 

“Oh, Elvira, mama needs to work, but daddy will be back from another hunt soon, so he’ll be able to take you back home, alright?” said Venno, the Velociraptor walking back over to her desk and sitting down, her daughter on her lap. 

Elvira just giggled and nodded in understanding, her eyes wandering excitedly over her mother’s desk to examine what kind of work she was doing. 

The Velociraptor smiled when her daughter reached out over the desk in an attempt to grab one particular wanted poster that had caught her eye. 

Venno reached out and grabbed it, bringing it closer so that Elvira may examine it. 

She could have asked her siblings, or even Jerry, to watch over her daughter while she and Dexx were both at work, but she didn’t want to have to leave Elvira with them too often. 

Plus, she wanted to spend more time with her, knowing that it would be better to bring her wherever she can so that she grows up with both of her parents around more. She didn’t want Elvira to grow up feeling like her parents were both too busy for her, like some of the other families she had come across. She wanted Elvira to feel loved and supported, and when the time came, she and Dexx knew that they would be ready to let their daughter make her own decisions and choose what path she wanted to take in life. They wanted to be there to support her for as long as they could before she became independent enough to do just that. 

Venno was startled out of her thoughts when she suddenly heard the door to her office open, knowing exactly who it was considering they didn’t even need to knock.
