The Entangled Webs (Story 17 - Chapter 5)

With Arachné:

The Black Widow had her helmet off, the thing resting on her motorcycle that she had parked at the old gas station across the street from where there appeared to be an old house missing. 

Just like in the security footage taken from said gas station only the night before. 

Arachné glanced over at where a black vehicle was pulling up, the car parking beside where she had parked her own motorcycle, her top four arms crossed while her bottom two rested on her hips. 

“Took you guys long enough” said Arachné, the Black Widow frowning as she returned her attention back to where the now missing house across the street had once been, the thing having been torn apart just like her bar. 

Jerry sighed, the older Spider stepping out of the vehicle as Dexx got out from the front passenger seat, Barry stepping out from the other backseat side. 

“Listen Widow, we wouldn’t have let you do this alone, even if we all think it’s a fucking bad idea” said Jerry angrily, the older Spider slinging his sniper rifle over his shoulder, his prosethic leg now on as he walked over to her. 

Dexx nodded, the Anglerfish taking his cell phone out and dialing in his wife’s number. 

“Yeah, you’re going up against a Rose Thorn Plant denizen who literally tore your bar AND an entire house down. If he’s that strong enough to do that, then who’s to say he can’t do that to you” said Dexx, the Anglerfish putting his phone on speaker, the thing ringing a few times. 

“Besides, the more help the merrier” said Barry, the Wolf Hound shrugging before crossing his arms, his head tilted to the side. 

Arachné glanced away, the Black Widow scowling. 

She didn’t exactly want anyone to come after her, but she knew that the second she had run out of Venno’s office that she would have been chased down, seeing as how these three had managed to follow her. 

While Barry turned to Venno’s driver, letting him know to stay parked at the gas station until they return, Arachné sighed and shook her head, catching the attention of both Dexx and Jerry. 

“I need to do this myself. It was MY fault that his wife is dead. I don’t know what warranted him to finally come for me, but whatever it was, he must have been fucking pissed. I can’t have any of you guys getting hurt for something that was MY fault. Finding his location was all the help I needed, I can deal with the rest on my own” said Arachné, the Black Widow frowning as she walked away from them a few steps, the Black Widow now feeling horrible. 

Dexx frowned, the Anglerfish finally getting a hold of Venno, the Velociraptor answering the phone. 

“Did you guys find her? Is she alright?” asked Venno, the Velociraptor sounding worried. 

“Please tell me Miss.Widow didn’t get herself hurt! She should have waited for help to arrive instead of charging in head first!” called Fiona’s voice on the other end, the Pomeranian sounding worried. 

“Don’t worry, I’ve hacked into the live security footage for that gas station. I can see them and they’re still fine!” called a faint Scott’s voice, the Possum sounding as though he were a few meters away from them. 

Dexx smiled, the Anglerfish chuckling lightly as he turned his attention up to where the security camera was currently pointed at them, waving. 

“Yeah, we found her. She didn’t charge in yet. We don’t even know if they’re still here or not, but we’ll be heading in to check shortly” said Dexx, the Anglerfish resting a hand on his hip as he turned his attention back to where Arachné was now standing silent as Jerry angrily tried talking to her, but she refused to even look at him.
