Venno Rapter - The Hellish Series Returns - Series Two

The Resurfaced Hound (Story 10 - Chapter 2)

With Venno and Dexx: 

The couple were waiting outside of the casino, the two both leaning against the wall separating the middle and right doors, Elvira held comfortably in Venno’s arms in the cool shade from the midsummer sun. 

Slendithera and Rad were both standing nearby, the two speaking excitedly to Jerry, the older Spider sitting on his wheelchair with his prosthetic leg off. In his hand, he had his smoking pipe, his Smoky Cloud Kitten lying comfortably on his lap asleep, purring as his back was gently stroked by Jerry’s bottom right hand. Scott had been the first to make it, the Possum sitting on the stairs scrolling through his tablet. 

Elvira giggled as Dexx tickled her under her chin, causing the two parents to smile warmly, exchanging loving glances. 

They suddenly turned their attention to the three other couples to arrive, their friends having met up just down the street at the intersection at coincidentally the same time before deciding to walk down towards the casino together. 

“About time they showed up” muttered Jerry, the older Spider grunting as he adjusted his seat on his wheelchair. 

Venno just chuckled as she walked over to the older Spider, handing Elvira over to him. 

“It’s alright, Jerry, we know you too well to know that you’ll just sit around and do nothing. That’s why we’re eager to let you take care of Elvira for us for the day, while we’re all gone. You can take her out for a walk, considering she does need some good ol’ bonding time with her great grandfather” said Venno, the Velociraptor smiling as Elvira giggled and gave Jerry a tight hug, his Smoky Cloud Kitten floating up and nuzzling her face. 

“Aww, how could I say no to that, but are you really sure I can take care of her? I mean, she’s got her grandparents to do that, doesn’t she?” asked Jerry, the older Spider glancing down at the Velociraptor Angler, a little unsure of how to take care of a baby, especially since he never had kids of his own, before his wife’s passing. 

Dexx just chuckled and shrugged, the Anglerfish grinning. 

“Venno’s parents are stuck in Hellis until tomorrow morning, the train company deciding to close the tracks because of an accident over the rails, so you’re the only other man for the job. I mean, she’s not crying, so that’s a good start. She trusts you enough to not make a fuss, plus, she’s a really well behaved kid, oddly enough. A little too well behaved, in my opinion, but I’m not complaining. I’m just happy she’s not the ‘constantly crying and demanding kid’ like some of those other kids we’ve seen a few times at the store or mall” said Dexx, the Anglerfish scowling when he mentioned that last part, rolling his eyes at the memory of witnessing other toddlers screaming their heads off with their parents simply ignoring them with blank looks on their faces. 

Venno giggled, the Velociraptor nudging her husband, causing him to perk up.

“Well, you all better have your fun during your bachelor and bachelorette parties. Rest assured, little Ellie here is in good hands” said Jerry proudly, the older Spider now feeling confident that he can take care of Elvira as he turned his wheelchair around to head back into the casino. 

Just as the automatic door opened, which the feature had been installed for Jerry specifically along with the ramp outside in case he ever needed to leave with his wheelchair, he halted and glanced back at the Velociraptor and Anglerfish. 

“Six of them, to be exact” said Jerry, giving them a rare grin as he raised all six of his hands to show them, the third pair appearing for just a minute before disappearing once again.

Elvira then laughed as she jumped up and threw her arms around the older Spider, startling him terribly as she waved, his Smoky Cloud Kitten flying up and around them as Jerry began grumbling about nearly having a heart attack.
