With Scott and Malcolm:
The Possum and the Lake Monster were both seated at a booth in a dinner they had found just down the street, the young child sitting across from Scott with his little legs hanging from his seat, swinging them back and forth as he drew a picture with the crayons and paper the waitress provided for him.
Scott, on the other hand, was watching the kid worriedly, the Possum glancing down at his tablet every minute as he continued to do a background search for the kid’s parents.
Having already ordered, the two waited patiently as the two Shadow kittens huddled around a bowl of water that the waitress had also brought for them.
The Possum’s ears perked up as he got several pings on his tablet.
Quickly skimming through them, the Possum then sighed and shook his head in frustration, not finding what he’s looking for.
“So…is there anything you can tell me about your parents? I seem to be having a hard time finding them, seeing as how there are a couple other ‘McSeasil’s popping up in my database, and there seems to be no one with that last name in this city” explained Scott, the Possum preparing to add more info into the keywords.
“Well…ok. As you’ve guessed, I’m a Lake Monster, and I’m only three. I don’t know my daddy’s age or first name, but he apparently looks just like me, only taller and more scary looking” explained Malcolm, the Lake Monster averting his eyes back down to his drawing.
Scott nodded, the Possum ensuring the age and first name in the search were both blank.
“How about a job? Do you know where he works or what he does?” asked Scott, the Possum hoping the kid at least knew of what his father did for a living, seeing as how he had to be making money in order to spend it on food and rent.
Malcolm thought for a minute, humming as he tapped his chin.
The sight caused Scott to crack a smile, the Possum unable to help it at how adorable the kid appeared at this very moment.
“I think he’s like one of those sales guys that goes door to door. I don’t know what he’s selling, though. He never tells me, but whatever it is is always wrapped up in some sort of white plastic with duct tape” explained Malcolm, the Lake Monster looking dejected with the lack of info he was providing Scott with.
Scott’s eyes widened when he heard this, a sneaking suspicion of what this product might be, but he quickly shook his head and regained himself, knowing this guy was most likely not in the database seeing as how the product he was selling was technically illegal.
Scott quickly reset his search, ensuring everything was blank, deciding to take a different approach.
“How about your mom? Maybe her info will help me find something” asked Scott, the Possum managing to put on a gentle smile, trying not to appear nervous.
Malcolm hummed in thought once more before answering.
“Well…I think she was a Lake Monster, like me and daddy. I only know that because I’ve seen her photo in daddy’s room, and she has the same horns and eyes as me” said Malcolm.
Scott nodded, adding the info into the ‘extra physical details’ section before adding the last name back into the search as well.
“How about a name? Anything that could tell me more about her?” asked Scott.
Malcolm shook his head, the Lake Monster’s ears seeming to lower even further.
“No, daddy never told me what her name is. All I know is that she’s ‘passed’, or at least that’s what daddy says. I’ve never seen her come home, but I can hear him talking to her on the phone sometimes at night when I’m sleeping. I’ve never heard her voice, and when I tried finding her number in his call logs, some other guys kept answering, sounding angry and yelling about some sort of white powder” explained Malcolm, unaware of the look of horror on Scott’s face as the Possum managed to process everything being told.
