Love and Bounty Hunting (Story 16 - Chapter 4)

Central Terronto Park: 

With Venno and Dexx: 

Both Venno and Dexx had been walking slowly through the large park, along the concrete pathways, in search for the Birch Tree Plant denizen. 

For the last five minutes, they had mainly been silent, the two more focused on scanning for any telltale signs of the Birch Tree Plant denizen having rooted himself in order to attempt healing himself. 

“So, tell me again, how do we know he’s in the park and not…I don’t know, trying to make a run for it to another city?” asked Dexx, the Anglerfish keeping his gaze to the left while Venno kept hers to the right. 

Venno shrugged, the Velociraptor more focused on scanning. 

“Again, this is just a theory. He’s a Plant denizen, which means they can root themselves into any large enough plot of ground in order to properly heal themselves. This park is the only plot of land large enough within the city, close enough for him to escape to, in order to heal from his toxic burns” explained Venno, the Velociraptor frowning slightly as she squinted into the darkness between a small patch of trees as the two passed by them. 

Dexx hummed in thought and nodded, the Anglerfish’s lures glowing a little brighter to allow them to properly see in the less lit section of the park. 

“Right, and tell me again, what’s the telltale sign of them rooting themselves?” asked Dexx, the Anglerfish unable to recall exactly what the sign for Tree Plant denizens had been specifically. 

“Tree Plant denizens emit a faint bluish green glow that travels up their roots from the ground after rooting themselves. It’s only the roots, though, meaning he’ll look like any ordinary tree in a sea of them with a faint glow emitting from part of the roots that stick up out of the ground” explained Venno, the Velociraptor recalling this fact. 

Having heard of the recent reports of a new rival gang in the city from the Spider/Shark Mafia, one that consisted of Plant denizens, Venno had decided to do some research on the denizen species in order to try and help take them down. 

The new gang had decided to cause more trouble on the citizens of the city rather than trying to live amongst them as an honest gang like the Spider/Sharks Mafia, the Plant denizens having vandalized and terrorized many businesses and caused turf wars. 

It was silent between the two of them for a few more minutes, Dexx now feeling a sudden weight on his shoulders as he snuck a few quick glances at his wife, Venno remaining unaware as she continued to scan the right side of the path they were taking. 

He wanted to tell her so badly, and he was unable to remain patient anymore. 

He had been unable to find the right opportunity for the longest time, since he first thought of maybe one day having a second child, to give Elvira a younger sibling to grow up alongside. 

He knew that perhaps right now was not the right moment, what with them both ‘hunting’ down the escaped bounty under the guise of a simple and relaxing walk through the park as a couple.

But at the same time, they were most likely the only two denizens walking through the park at this moment, their path only lit with the faint glow from the moonlight in the sky, and his own two lures. 

If this wasn’t also a hunt, then it would technically be an actual date, a romantic walk through the park with his wife. 

Dexx halted in his tracks so suddenly that Venno gasped in shock when he suddenly put his hand on her shoulder and quickly whirled her around to face him.
