The Spider/Shark Mafia: The Beginning of a New Alliance (Story 12 - Chapter 1)

Note: At this point, about a little over a year has passed since the last story, so Malcolm will have already turned five, considering it would have been only three months before his birthday in the last story, and Elvira’s birthday would be a month later. 

With Dexx: 

The Anglerfish had just finished up with another hunt, a smile on his face as he made his way down the short hallway towards his wife’s office. 

Today was a VERY special day for their daughter, and they wanted to be done before their reservation at a restaurant for four in the afternoon. 

Dexx, without knocking on the door first, walked into the office with an excited smile on his face. 

“Where’s my special birthday girl?” asked Dexx, the Anglerfish walking over towards Venno’s desk, tossing his bag onto the chair in front of it before turning towards Elvira’s play area. 

The play pen had long been replaced by just a simple mat, the young Velociraptor Angler now old enough to be trusted not to wander off too far and accidentally get herself hurt. 

“Daddy!” called Elvira, the young Velociraptor Angler quickly managing to get up and rush over to her father, having finally learned to walk without falling over only a year prior. 

Dexx chuckled as he kneeled down and scooped her up, the young Velociraptor Angler giggling as he spun her around, having pulled her close into his arms. 

With Venno:

Venno chuckled at the sight of the two, the Velociraptor getting up from her seat behind her desk and walking over to plant a soft kiss on Dexx’s lips. 

“Tell daddy how old you are today” said Venno, the Velociraptor smiling as she gave her daughter a soft kiss on her forehead, causing Elvira to giggle. 

“Mommy says I’m turning four today!” exclaimed Elvira, the young Velociraptor Angler blushing brightly, a wide smile on her face at the thought of being one year older than she was before. 

Dexx chuckled, the Anglerfish grinning as he nodded. 

“That’s amazing, sweetheart! I can’t believe you’re growing up so fast, you used to be so tiny” said Dexx, the Anglerfish hugging his daughter tightly, causing her to giggle once more before burying her face into his shoulder. 

Venno chuckled as she patted Dexx’s back, the Velociraptor heading back to her desk and picking up a pile of folders and her clipboard. 

“Well, I’ll see you two at the restaurant later tonight, ok? I just gotta finish up with these interviews before I can head over, and then we can really get this birthday party started, alright?” asked Venno, the Velociraptor walking back over to the two as Dexx turned around, the Anglerfish smiling and nodding. 

“That’s right. Your mother will be meeting us there, at the restaurant, so it’ll be about two hours before we see her again. We’re just going to head home first, get you all ready for your big day, and then we’ll be heading over with aunt Slendithera, uncle Rad, grandma and grandpa” explained Dexx, the Anglerfish readjusting his hold on his daughter so that she was sitting in one arm comfortably, allowing the Anglerfish to grab his bag and sling it over his shoulder before turning to his wife. 

Venno smiled and nodded, the Velociraptor once again leaning forward and giving her husband a quick kiss on the lips before giving her daughter a kiss on the right cheek this time. 

“I’ll be seeing you two, later, alright? Don’t start the party without me, you hear? And don't forget to charge your phone, Dexx, I tried calling you but I assume the battery died” called Venno, the Velociraptor watching the two as they turned and left, staying behind for a minute after realizing she forgot to grab the tablet that was still sitting on her desk.
