Slendithera's Heart Felt Interest (Story 13 - Chapter 5)

With Venno and Dexx: 

“She did WHAT!?” demanded Venno, the Velociraptor slamming her palms down on Fiona’s desk, causing the Pomeranian to jump in fright. 

“I left her out in the hall for only thirty minutes, and by the time I came back after getting in contact with his family, they were BOTH gone. I don’t know if he managed to escape or if she let him go or what!?" exclaimed Fiona, the Pomeranian clearly distressed as she began sifting through paperwork, trying to locate something. 

“No, I saw them both leave. I found it odd, so I came in here and asked Fiona if your sister was returning him to his family. That’s why we called you right away. Sorry…you had to leave your daughter like that. I’m sure Mr.Rifele will take very good care of her while you’re dealing with this mess” explained Scott, the Possum’s ears lowering flat against his head as he glanced away from the two, feeling bad for causing the two parents even more stress as is. 

Venno sighed in frustration as she began pacing, Dexx crossing his arms as he began thinking. 

“Hey, Scott, can I get a look at that folder? I think something about this guy is starting to come back to me” said Dexx quickly, the Anglerfish reaching his hand out to take the folder from Scott’s already outstretched hand, the Possum having nodded. 

“What is it, Dexx?” asked Venno, the Velociraptor coming over to stand beside her husband, watching as he opened the folder and began skimming through the notes. 

“Ah, I think I remember this family, now. I believe they were some royal family in Great Hellin. I went over there maybe twice, but decided not to show my face after I stole from this family” explained Dexx, the Anglerfish now thinking back on what had happened back then. 

Venno nodded in understanding, the Velociraptor skimming through the notes she had made. 

“It says in my notes from the phone call I made to them after the failed hunt that apparently he had ‘stolen’ a silver pole, but in his wanted poster it says he’s only wanted for attempted robbery which is a contradiction in itself” stated Venno, the Velociraptor tilting her head in confusion as she began to wonder how she had missed this. 

Dexx must have read her mind, the Anglerfish giving her a quick glance. 

“I know that look, honey, and it’s not your fault. I was the cause of your anger and frustration, and what I did, the promise I broke to you caused you to get distracted from your job, and I am SO sorry that I did that” whispered Dexx, the Anglerfish now feeling a large pit in his stomach, a feeling of hurt and regret for what he had done. 

Venno frowned worriedly, but nodded in understanding, the Velociraptor glancing up at Dexx. 

“I know, honey, and I’m sorry that I let my anger get the better of me. For the fuck’s sake, that whole day I wanted to tell you that I was pregnant and that Jerry wanted to make you into a Bounty Hunter, but everytime I wanted to I held back because it wasn’t the right time to bring either of them up. I…I was going to hurt the father of our daughter, and if I had…I…” started Venno, but the Velociraptor was unable to continue due to the fact that she had begun choking up, her tears threatening to fall as she glanced away. 

Dexx quickly closed the folder and pulled Venno in for a tight hug, the Anglerfish rubbing her back as she hid her face in his shoulder. 

“It’s alright, I get it. It was my fault for making you so angry. Now look at us, both working for the BHA, a legacy that your old boss had started, and one that he chose you to continue. You did beat his record, but he had faith in you the entire journey through” said Dexx, the Anglerfish smiling gently as he soothed his wife’s hurt emotions.
