The Former Claws of Anger (Story 15 - Chapter 4)

New Strip City:

With Venno, Barry and Scott: 

The three had gotten off of the train perhaps two hours before, and had been on the trail for Debby Krabiss since then. 

It was perhaps around four in the afternoon by the time they had arrived in New Strip City, the train ride having taken over two hours considering they had been delayed by a fallen tree on the tracks. 

Before getting on the train, though, they had first gone to a nearby motel where two of Mr.Krabiss’ guards had agreed to meet with the three, having handed them an old hoodie that had belonged to Debby, one that had still been in the underwater base after they had managed to repair the broken glass before draining the large room that had been flooded.

Now, with the hoodie in Scott’s backpack, his eyes trained on his tablet in hand, the Possum continued to scan the security footage and getting pings on every one where the young Spider Crab had passed in front of. 

Venno and Barry were walking up front, the two more focused on the scent trail as Barry kept his nose trained to pick up the now familiar scent in case they happened to pass by it. 

“So, how do you plan on getting her to go see her father? I mean…after what happened, I’m sure she’s fucking pissed off about you and Dexx getting married considering from what he told me, she had a MAJOR crush on him” said Scott suddenly, the Possum deciding to start up a conversation with the two. 

Venno sighed, the Velociraptor pinching the bridge of her beak as she and Barry continued to lead the way. 

“Honestly I haven’t thought that far ahead, but whatever happens, I’ll do my best to alleviate the tension with her by appealing to what she might like. You know, break the ice, get her to talk” said Venno, the Velociraptor trying to think of the best possible way to convince the Spider Crab to come with them. 

Barry just chuckled, the Wolf Hound crossing his arms and tilting his head to the side. 

“Well what she likes is boys, getting whatever she wants, and…of yeah, apparently your husband” said Barry, the Wolf Hound nudging Venno teasingly. 

Venno just frowned and shoved her elbow into his side, causing the Wolf Hound to hiss slightly in pain, but his smirk remained. 

“No, I will NOT be telling her all about my husband. She is FAR too young for him, anyway. Besides, girls her age get crushes all the time. She probably outgrew it eventually. I should know because I’ve had a few crushes on guys when I was her age, but I outgrew them when I realized I could do better by actually dating one. Obviously, that didn’t work out the first time considering my first time dating was with Eric, but the second time was with Dexx and now look at us!” exclaimed Venno, the Velociraptor getting a little defensive as the three of them turned the corner and continued down the streets in search of the young Spider Crab. 

“Yeah, ok, we get it. Nobody is to touch your husband. You made THAT pretty clear when he and Elvira were trapped in that bus a couple months back” said Barry, the Wolf Hound still smirking as he raised his arms in surrender. 

Venno huffed and crossed her arms, the Velociraptor rolling her eyes, still pissed that that incident had happened on her daughter’s birthday. 

“Oh, hold on, it looks like she passed this way last night, maybe around midnight, in front of that security camera heading down that street” said Scott suddenly, the Possum halting in his tracks and pointing up at a nearby camera that was pointing down the street that was on the opposite side from where they were.
