Scott and Malcolm’s room:
A month earlier; Malcolm’s birthday:
With Malcolm:
Flashback Start:
The young Lake Monster was seated on the sofa, he and Scott having just had a slice of birthday cake each.
He was finally happy, to say the least.
His father was gone for good this time, and Mrs. Angle Rapter had reassured him that the older Lake Monster would not be breaking out of prison this time around.
From what she had told him, the prison he had been sent to this time was hidden behind a large waterfall, and the only way in and out is through the use of piloting a sub through an underwater cave system.
His father was a Lake Monster, though, which still worried him despite the gentle reassurance he would be unable to escape prison this time around.
Malcolm was quickly snapped out of his thoughts, the young Lake Monster’s ears perking up when he saw the tall box the Possum was carrying out of his bedroom.
The box was nearly as tall as Scott, the Possum standing around the same height as Dexx, which he believes is roughly around five foot nine, maybe even six foot.
“Is that for me!?” asked Malcolm excitedly, the young Lake Monster unable to contain himself at the thought of getting something that big for his birthday.
Scott chuckled, the Possum nodding as he sat back down on the sofa, the box layed down on his lap.
“It sure is, kid. Would you like to open it up now, or wait until after the movie to see what it is?” asked Scott, the Possum smiling, wanting to give Malcolme a choice.
Malcolm smiled widely, the young Lake Monster grabbing the box and pulling it onto his lap, the thing nearly falling to the floor before Scott was quick enough to help catch it, shifting it back up and holding one end up.
As quickly as he could, the young Lake Monster managed to rip the ribbon tying the box up before throwing the lip off, his eyes widening with a shimmer of awe when he saw what was inside.
It looked to be some sort of spear made completely out of silver, the spearhead and handle connected as one seamlessly. The spearhead looked as though it were in the shape of a shark tail, and the bottom looked to be a matching shark fin. Decorating the silver spear were cut out holes along the blade and some emerald and topaz gems giving the spear a much more elegant and sleek design.
“Wow…is this REALLY for me?” asked Malcolm, the young Lake Monster ghosting his hands along the spear, too afraid to touch it.
Scott smiled and nodded, the Possum being careful not to touch the weapon himself.
“Yeah, it is. I thought I’d get you some sort of weapon to defend yourself with, in case you ever need to” started Scott, the Possum giving him a weak smile.
Scott then sighed and glanced away, the Possum’s ears lowering, causing Malcolm’s ears to also lower in worry, the young Lake Monster tilting his head to the side.
“What happened with your father was too close. If I never made it in time to stop him…I’m afraid of what could have happened to you…” continued Scott, the Possum closing his eyes, the scene replaying in his mind every time he closed them.
He then shook his head, the Possum smiling weakly once more.
“So, I thought, why not get you something that you could use to fight back. You’ll be able to defend yourself if you ever find yourself in some sort of trouble with anyone. I won’t always be there to help you, and quite frankly, I’m not that much of a fighter…but that day…I was scared to find out what I was really capable of doing when it came to protecting you” admitted Scott, the Possum shrugging lightly.
