The Resurfaced Hound (Story 10 - Chapter 5)

With Venno and Dexx: 

It was finally time for Barry and Fiona’s wedding, and it was not the bride who was having a meltdown, but the groom. 

Venno was standing outside the room that Barry was using to get himself ready for his wedding day, while Dexx had gone inside to see what the hold up was about. 

“Hey, Dexx, is everything alright in there? It’s already been fifteen minutes, and the wedding starts at ten” called Venno, the Velociraptor trying not to shout too loudly so as to not alert the girls in the room across from where Barry was currently holed up in. 

A solid minute passed before Dexx finally came out of the room, the Anglerfish dressed in a simple dark blue dress shirt, a matching pair of black pants and his favorite aviator jacket considering he wanted to sit out and chose not to be a groomsman, despite Barry having asked. 

The role of Best Man was given to DJ, considering he is technically going to be the next to get married, whereas the Maid of Honor went to Roxxane, which was a happy coincidence for the two. 

Dexx sighed as he closed the door before crossing his arms. 

“Well…he’s still shaken up about what happened last night” said Dexx, the Anglerfish glancing behind Venno and making sure no one was coming out of the room behind her. 

Venno snuck a quick glance behind her before stepping closer to Dexx, allowing the two to speak in more hushed tones. 

“Is it about that guy, the one that you said bumped into Barry on your way out?” whispered Venno, her own arms crossed. 

Dexx nodded, both he and Venno deciding to silently walk away from the general area of the two rooms, on their way over to the third floor balcony area. 

“Yeah, I didn’t catch exactly what the guy said, but Barry did tell us afterwards that the guy told him that Fiona was technically ‘still his wife’” explained Dexx silently, the Anglerfish rubbing his chin as he leaned his back against the railing. 

Venno thought for a minute before nodding in understanding, the Velociraptor trying to make sense of the new information gleaned. 

“Well, I talked to Scott a few minutes before coming up here to check on you guys, and he said that he just felt like inviting some of the other Bounty Hunters and Field Team Operatives because he thought it would be nice having the ‘Bounty Hunter family’ here, too’. It’s just weird because they were invited anyway, but I noticed that they had their weapons undercover” explained Venno, the Velociraptor leaning against the railing beside Dexx. 

Dexx hummed in thought before turning to his wife, now smiling. 

“Welp, I guess your former boss decided to have a little hand in this because he’s downstairs talking to those other Bounty Hunters and Field Team Operatives, the ones Scott ‘invited’” said Dexx, the Anglerfish having noticed this point when he and Venno arrived at the balcony. 

“Oh, really now? I mean, I know he was our former boss, but there are other ways you can still be productive other than going over my head” muttered Venno, the Velociraptor smirking teasingly. 

Dexx chuckled, the Anglerfish wrapping his arm around Venno’s shoulder. 

“Well, I guess we should go find your mother and get our daughter back before this wedding starts. We’ve got front row seats to this show, so let’s just sit back, and enjoy whatever action your former boss has cooked up for us today” said Dexx, the Anglerfish giving Venno a quick kiss on her cheek, causing her to chuckle.
