Terronto Central Park:

Thirty Minutes Later:

With Venno and Dexx:

Both the Velociraptor and Anglerfish were standing off to the side, the two having managed to knock out the large Birch Tree Plant denizen without so much as a single hitch.

The Field Team Operatives were busy securing the now recaptured bounty, at least five of them ensuring he was chained up properly while the sixth one rechecked all their work to really ensure there was no chance of him escaping again.

Luckily for the two, the Field Team Operatives seemed to have bought their little lie when they told them that they had simply been out on a relaxing walk, and had just happened upon the guy already knocked out.

It helped even more that the large Birch Tree Plant denizen didn’t seem to be able to speak, only expressing himself in grunts, grumbles and the occasional angry roar.

That, and the fact that he didn’t even see them coming when they managed to knock him out, the two having worked together with their combined strength to get the job done swiftly, silently and unseen.

While they were distracted, both Venno and Dexx were standing so their backs were turned to the Field Team Operatives, the two silently discussing what they would be doing next with the small object held tightly in Venno’s hand.

“So, what should we do with that? Try to track down what it opens?” asked Dexx, the Anglerfish glancing back and seeing that the Field Team Operatives were still occupied with securing the guy tightly, allowing the two some time to talk.

Venno frowned, the Velociraptor weighing her options internally in her head.

“I don’t know. Scott is smart, he may be able to track down the serial number printed on the back of the key, but then there’s the problem of what we might find. I don’t want our friends getting worried and roped into what we may be uncovering” explained Venno, the Velociraptor unsure of what they should do with said key that didn’t put their friend’s lives at risk for helping.

Dexx frowned, the Anglerfish humming in thought and nodding.

Barry may be able to handle himself, along with Fiona if she were to be driven into it, the two Canines being part Hound.

Scott, on the other hand….was Scott. He said so himself, one time, his first instinct would be to literally pretend to faint in order to get out of having to fight.

In order to ensure others won’t get harmed, if the key were to open something dangerous, then Venno and Dexx would have to remain in the dark about it.

Afterall, the two were more skilled in fighting with summonable weapons AND guns. And they trusted that their family could take care of themselves. As long as Elvira was with Jerry, they knew that their daughter was in better hands than anyone else’s for the job of protecting her.

Plus, the Spider/Shark Mafia would be able to help, seeing as how they literally lived near the center of their turf, amongst all the most frequented establishments between the two species.

“You’re right, it’s too risky to bring them in to help. It could be anything. How about asking the guy who dropped it in the first place? Maybe one of the Plant denizens in the cells will know what the key opens, seeing as how one of them had been carrying it” suggested Dexx, the Anglerfish shrugging.

Venno hummed in thought and nodded in agreement, the Velociraptor finding no other option other than Dexx’s.

“Right. I’ll call Barry tomorrow morning and ask him to keep the Plant denizens locked up in the cells until we come back. They are to have NO contact with anyone on the outside. I’ll also ask that only you and I perform the interviews with them. After that, I’m removing their bounties and having them sent to the River State Falls Prison where they will remain locked up with no contact with the outside world” began Venno, the Velociraptor turning to glare at the Birch Tree Plant denizen who was currently being loaded into the large transport vehicle the Field Team came in.
