Rimuru was sitting at his cottage's patio, hand caressing Gaia's scaled body. It genuinely acted like a pet, purring and shifting in his lap. Humorously, this little thing was supposed to be on the same divine hierarchy as him.
Not that deities had to carry themselves in excellency all the time. In fact, the epitome of divine might, Veldanava, was the exact opposite of commencing respect.
But then again, anyone with that kind of power could afford to be loose. Back when that man used to roam the world, there was a saying that God worked in mysterious ways. Veldanava could do anything on a whim. There was no way to predict that absurd force of creation.
Most people would prefer Rimuru rather than Veldanava since he was a bit more mature and not caused as much problems. If anything, wouldn't it make Ramiris happy if he was really her boss reincarnated?
"Gyuu!" Feeling that the patting rhythm was getting more intense, Gaia shuddered in his lap. This pulled Rimuru out of the trance.
"Sorry. Sorry," he apologized to Gaia. It seemed that he had greatly misjudged what the problem was.
What upsetted Ramiris wasn't at all the fact that he was Veldanava reincarnated. It was instead the secrecy. If he had told her when they first met, this ordeal wouldn't have happened.
It was only yesterday that he had talked with Ciel about the rules of secrecy, and now he was getting punished for that secrecy. The irony of it didn't escape him.
He could go to Ramiris and have a long, in-depth talk with her right now, but he waited. He was waiting, which was a strange decision.
Ramiris had closed the labyrinth under the illusion of maintenance. They were bleeding money every minute, and Rimuru was aware of it. And yet, he waited in a manner one wouldn't expect from a usually greedy man.
"You asked to meet me, Rimuru-sama?" A pretty girl with pink hair approached him, her movements respectful to a fault.
"I do. Good to see you, Shuna."
"You look conflicted. Have Shion caused troubles during your trip to Luberius?" The way she jumped straight to accusing Shion was kind of impressive. It wasn't uncalled for though, Shion did have that kind of reputation attached to her name.
"There is nothing to worry about on that front. Shion fulfilled her role relatively well." He paused, allowing Shuna a moment to take in the information.
During that lull, he conjured a letter and handed it to Shuna.
"Send this to Milim. It is very important. Make sure that it is sent professionally."
"Understood." She bowed gracefully and took the letter from his hand. More convenient methods of communication existed, but Rimuru opted to use a standard letter instead.
Thought Communication would've been too invasive, and using the Demon Lord ring to communicate about things that didn't concern the Demon Lord council was disencouraged.
Rimuru would do his best to avoid using that as much as he could. According to Ciel, this ring carried Velzard's essence, and she had the authority to tap into any conversation recorded by the rings.
Due to the sensitive nature of the letter, Rimuru believed this method was the right call. Even if Frey checked it first before passing it to Milim, she wouldn't expect a thing. Rimuru had arranged the words in an unsuspicious way.
Ciel knew a couple things about talking vague and ambiguous, so she was a lot of help.
"Is there anything else you want?"
