Actions Have Consequences

Rimuru and his executives were gathering in the meeting room. He had a lot to discuss with them now that the Founder's Festival had come to an end.

'I'm glad that they haven't asked me about the proposal yet.'

They probably knew that it was him who was being proposed to; that disguise's performance record wasn't the best after all.

Thankfully, they let Rimuru's private life remain private.

Other than knowing glances and smirks, they hadn't tried to press him for answers yet. Unbeknownst to him, they had made arrangements in order to find out who that woman was before this meeting even started.

That woman had proposed to their lord, and he said 'Yes'. It was clear to all of them that the wedding would soon come. When that happened, and their bond got officialized, that woman would become the queen of Tempest.

They had to make sure that she didn't plan to take advantage of their beloved Demon Lord. But since this was their lord's special person, they had to know more about her without Rimuru noticing.

They knew how she looked, so finding details about her shouldn't be that difficult.

Testarossa had ordered Moss to check Tempest's registry, just in case she was Tempest's citizen.

One of Souei's clones was sent to look through the guest record.

Due to the incident they had with Falmuth, Tempest had come up with a protocol to make sure that they wouldn't let people with less than good intentions in.

And they also made a name list of the guests. They would check that as well, just in case she was a foreigner.

And Kurayami, Souei's personal squad, was assigned to gather as much information as they could from nearby countries.

They really wanted to know the identity of that woman.

Despite their efforts to keep this operation a secret, Ciel was aware of it, but she let it continue because it was amusing. It was impossible to find any information about her since she was a recluse who had no life outside of her master's body.

«Fufufu...»

'What's it, Ciel-san?' She laughed out of the blue, so he couldn't help but to ask her for the reason.

«Nothing, Master.»

‹What's with that evil face you are making, Wisdom King?›

«Hush, hush.»

As his two Manas started talking among themselves, Rimuru reeled his attention back to the meeting and swept his eyes to look at everyone. "Let's start our meeting," Rimuru said, and the atmosphere in the room became more serious.

Since the first day of the festival, there was a major issue looming over it. The tradesmen had been asking for their payment in cash. They wouldn't accept a payment in the form of assets or stellar gold coins either.

The merchants demanded their payments in Dwarven coins.

Tempest had significant economic power but no credit to back it up. If they failed to pay them in full when the payment was due, Tempest's reputation would be ruined.

'Clearly, this is someone's plan to tarnish our reputation or worse.'

Trying to defame a Demon Lord required more than just courage. They had to be stupid as well.

'Whoever is behind this, I will make you pay, but let's focus on the problem in front of us first.'

Rimuru still had gold coins left in Imaginary Space, and there was no better time to spend it than this. When the nation was facing a financial crisis, the king must do everything in order to solve it, including dipping into his own purse.
