Rimuru lived a life of secrecy, having done everything in his power to keep his past life a secret. However, it didn't work as he had intended it to. By trying to hide away his past, he had triggered a Streisand effect.
His attempt to hide away the past only brought more light to it. He was aware that his subordinates engaged in speculation. They often held a secret meeting and tried to piece together his identity using the hints that he had carelessly given to them in passing by.
They worked with so little information, so it was quite impressive just how close they got to the truth, especially when Diablo - who knew Rimuru the best - didn't participate in it.
Recognized publicly as Rimuru's oldest servant, Diablo knew him better than other of his subordinates excluding Ciel. Rimuru would even argue that the guy knew him better than Rimuru knew himself.
If Rimuru ever wanted a biography of his life written, Diablo would be given the role, undoubtedly. He had no idea that Diablo had already made twelve of that.
Dino also knew a lot about Rimuru too, specifically the Veldanava aspect of him, but he was hardly a subordinate to Rimuru.
He had pledged loyalty upon knowing the truth, but Rimuru still felt conflicted about allowing Dino to serve him directly.
That would just put the Octagram in a shamble, wouldn't it?
But enough about that, let's get back to the speculation that his subordinates had put together.
Rimuru was once married, and he was engaged to a different woman as of now. This sounded like a mess, but they couldn't make any assumption since they knew practically nothing about both of them.
His possibly ex-wife, with how Rimuru had mentioned her thus far, sounded like an absolute human wreck of an individual, and she was apparently a royalty too.
His fianceé, on the other hand, was a ghost. She boldly proposed to Rimuru in front of his subordinates and they still couldn't find out who she actually was.
Other than his wife and his fianceé, his daughters were the topic that got brought up a lot.
By the virtue of Demon Lord Luminous being the middle child, Rimuru would have at least three children. Having the Demon Lord, one of the old generation, as a daughter was a lunacy in itself.
The identities of the other two, if not more, children were still unknown, and yet he just came out of nowhere and introduced his "newest" daughter. Carrera, Shion, and Ranga felt surprised. Each reacted differently.
Carrera acted the most erratic as she started blasting at Raine.
"Calm down."
"But Rimuru-sama!"
"You aren't going to be a bad influence in front of my daughter, right?" Rimuru asked, his voice calm and steady. However, his face wasn't friendly at all.
Rimuru was very serious when it came to his children. Ciel, as Rimuru's proxy and his closest ally, knew it well. Others weren't quite well-informed though.
Because he didn't dote on Luminous as much and because Milim wasn't perceived as his daughter by the general public, there was no indication for them to figure out he was an unreasonably overprotective parent.
"Y-Yes!" Upon seeing Rimuru's glance, Carrera quickly lowered her gun. She was an ancient Daemon and had seen horrible things, but nothing terrified her as much as Rimuru's gaze did.
She became meeker immediately, not wanting to enrage her master further. At least this didn't seem to be about Raine. Could it be that her concerns were unfounded?
