The Eastern Empire, also known in its entirety as the Nasca Namrium Ulmeria United Empire, was founded on the belief of the "Divine Right to Rule".
The "Mandate of Heaven" referred to the belief that the ruling dynasty received the right to rule from the gods.
In this case, said "gods" were none other than the True Dragons. Many mythologies of the empire involved the True Dragon race. Although all four of them had been revered as deities, two stood out from the rest.
Rudra Nam Ul Nasca, the emperor, was sitting behind an imperial curtain, his presence fully concealed. The curtain, yùwéi, was yellow, the color of the emperor.
The silhouettes of the Dragon Gods were embroidered on the well-made silk curtain. The first was a serpentine dragon with cardinal red scales, and the second dragon was reptilian with cyan scales.
The first one, the Scorch Dragon, was a graceful manifestation of violence, the guardian deity who embodied the empire's "strength over everything" mentality.
Meanwhile, the second one was the Star King Dragon. It was pictured as a chthonic god, wise and ancient. And although it didn't appear often in the empire's mythologies, it served as the mentor of the founding emperor.
Star King Dragon Veldanava and Scorch Dragon Velgrynd were the God and Goddess of Creation respectively; that was how the empire's monolatry belief perceived them.
You should approach these entities with respect, and it was clear that Chornoa, the Hero recommended by Gadra the Sage, didn't do that. She was blunt, vulgar even, but Rudra couldn't deny the fact that it was quite amusing.
'Damn. I've never seen Gryn get mad at anyone this fast. That girl sure has a talent.'
He wanted to chuckle, but it wouldn't be so appropriate for an emperor to act so carefree, would it? The benefit of the imperial curtain was that nobody knew his current expression.
Rudra cleared his throat before speaking with a voice of authority, "Don't you think you've gone too far, Marshal?"
"To be fair, she deserved it."
"Marshal," Rudra didn't raise his voice, yet it was rather effective. Velgrynd appeared to be quite downcasted, not much of the fearsome cardinal dragon, more like a puppy that had just been scolded by its owner.
"It's all your fault!"
"Hey, I was just giving you an invitation. You are the one who decided to be a jerk!" Chloe replied as she emerged from the hole on a wall. She was mostly unharmed, which was a surprise to Rudra. In fact, it was impressive that she was as vulgar as she was despite the punishment.
Velgrynd was the strongest individual in the empire, and that kick she gave Chloe wasn't merciful either. The kick wasn't enhanced with Velgrynd's "Acceleration", but her physical strength alone was devastating enough.
That kick which Chloe had endured was enough to obliterate a sage; even a saint would have sustained significant damage.
"A jerk? How can I be a jerk when you're outright harassing me?"
"Hmm, fair enough."
'Admittedly, I might've gone too far, but just a little bit though.'
Hinata, who could hear that thought too, just silently judged Chloe. At the same time, she was taking note of everyone in the throne room.
This azure-haired beauty appeared to be the marshal of the empire. She was as powerful as her position suggested. To be specific, it was her speed that astonished Hinata.
