"Hey, Chloe," Beca called from the living room, "Would you be ok if me and Jesse went on a double date with Anna and Ben on Saturday. I feel bad to leave you out."
"Yeah, I have to work anyway," Chloe came out of the bathroom, where she was curling her hair. "Are the curls even?" She asked, fiddling with her hair.
"It's fine, Chlo." Beca tilted her head. "You should straighten your hair sometime."
"I actually thought about it. Maybe I will tomorrow." Chloe smiled.
"I'm going to the store to get something for dinner. Do you need anything?"
"Yeah. A straightening iron and more heat protectant." Chloe smiled.
"You're actually listening to me?" Beca looked surprised.
"Yeah," Chloe said. "It's about time I reinvent my self a little bit."
Beca laughed. "You're perfect already, but fine I'll get your stuff. What are you doing today?"
"I don't know. I think I'll stop by Anna's and see if she needs help with any chores."
"Tell her I said hi. I'm starving. I'm going for breakfast," Beca said, grabbing her purse.
"See you later, Becs," Chloe said, walking back into the bathroom.

When Chloe got to Anna's house, she was feeling worse.
"I'm out of painkillers," she said.
"That's ok I'll text Beca. She's at the store." Chloe smiled sympathetically at her friend.
"Do you have any chores you need me to do?"
"Thank god you asked. The kitchen is a mess and I need help cleaning it. I can't lift or carry anything."
"Absolutely!" Chloe said to the brunette. "We can put on some music, and I'll clean the whole thing."
"Thanks so much," Anna said to the redhead. "Could you hand me those crutches?"
"Yeah," Chloe said, handing her friend the crutches and helping her get up. "I think I have a good idea on how to brighten your mood a little."
"How?"
"It's a surprise, but I have to text Beca to get a few things. Hang on a sec.
Hey can you get a few things for Anna?
Yeah. What do you need?

Well I was thinking we could make her a care package with like a ton of candy and books and movies and magazines and then I wanted to take her crutches and cover them in rainbow duct tape and put pillow pets on the arm pads. Oh and tons of rainbow sharpies because she's getting a new cast next week and it's going to be white.

God Chlo your so thoughtful sounds good.

Oh and don't forget the painkillers.

Yep got em bye.

Bye

"Ok," Chloe said, "I texted Beca."

"Chlo, you're so sweet," Anna said.

"Oh it's no problem," Chloe said, hooking her phone up to the speaker. "What should we listen to?"

"I'm on a little Taylor Swift hype, so maybe 1989."
Chloe pulled up the album on her phone.

"That's my favorite." Chloe smiled at her friend.

"I can probably do the dishes. I can balance on the side and..."

"An, it's fine. I can do it. I want you to rest up. We don't want your time in that thing to be extended. How long are you in the cast?"

"Eight weeks in this, and then a walking boot for a month."

"I thought you said it was a minor break?"

"Yeah...in three parts."

"Oh my god!" That's horrible," Chloe said as she started loading the dishwasher.

"I'm ok. It really just hurts like a really bad bruise. I'll need a brace for awhile after the boot, but I'm ok."

"Aww," Chloe said, giving her friend a sympathetic hug."

Anna got up and hopped over to the counter.  "I can't stand to sit here and let someone clean for me," she said as she grabbed the Clorox wipes. She started wiping the counter. When she finished, she bent down, still on one foot, and grabbed a new roll of paper towels from the cabinet.
"Wow!" Chloe said. It's so great you can do all this. It'll make these eight weeks fly by. I'm such a klutz, I can't even stand on one foot for 30 seconds. How do you do that?"
"Oh I've been doing yoga for a few years now, and it really works. I can teach you in a few months when I can use both feet if you want."

"Sure!" Chloe said. Beca walked in the door.
"Hey," she said, carrying a big purple box.
"What's in there?" Anna hopped on one leg over to the table.
"It's for you," Chloe smiled.
"Ooh!" Anna opened the box and sorted through the candy, movies, magazines, and books...oh and the painkillers. "Oh my god you're a lifesaver," Anna said, popping a pill out of the package and taking a sip of the water Chloe handed her.
"Go enjoy your candy and watch a movie," Beca said, leading her friend into the living room and grabbing the crutches after she sat down.
"We'll be right back," Chloe said. "We have one more surprise."
Beca giggled and ran onto the deck with Chloe.

They came back into the house ten minutes later with the crutches. They were covered in zebra stripe duct tape and there were pillow pets...penguin pillow pets on the arm cushions.
"You guys!" Anna said sweetly. "You didn't have to do all this!"

"You're so nice to us, we had to return the favor." Chloe sat down next to her friend.

"Hey where are the dogs?" Beca asked.

"Oh I took them to Doggie Daycare so I wouldn't have to watch them," Anna said.

"We'll go pick them up for you," Chloe said.

"That'd be great," Anna said as Chloe grabbed her bag and left with Beca.

"Be back in a few," Beca said.
