Beca walked onstage to 2,000 fans cheering her on. She had never been happier. She played a song, and then a few fans in front asked what happened to her. She put on a beat in the background and started explaining what happened. "Last weekend, it was one of my best friend's birthday, and we were driving to Starbucks, and a truck hit my side of the car. My friends were fine, but I was in a coma for 4 days. I have a broken wrist and leg, but I'm fine. I'm feeling 75% better. My ankle is the only thing that's bothering me. I promise guys, I wasn't going to miss this for anything. I'm so blessed to have so many amazing people like you screaming my name right now, and I'm so blessed to have two of the best friends in the world. Chloe and Anna, would you please come on stage with me?"
Chloe and Anna walked out on stage, and Beca gave them a hug. "Chloe and Anna are gonna be singing with me tonight. We're going to be singing Flashlight, which my friend and genius lyricist, Emily wrote. She couldn't be here tonight, but she totally would if she could. Chloe has nodules, so she's super brave to get out here and sing for the first time in about a year. She's going to be amazing, and I know Anna can sing, she just doesn't know it."
Chloe started singing. She was a little shaky at first, but Beca rubbed her back and she calmed down. Anna joined in and she was amazing. Beca finally joined the other two, and the whole crowd was waving flashlights around. When Beca finished the song, she turned to the crowd. "I never got to sing happy birthday to Chloe last weekend. Can you guys help me out? The whole crowd sang happy birthday to Chloe, and Anna brought Chloe a cake. It read: happy birthday to our rockstar bff! Stay amazing.
Chloe blew out 28 candles in front of 2,000 people. She was so happy. Tears of joy were streaming down her face. She gave Beca the biggest hug until Beca pulled away and faced the crowd with her hand on Chloe's shoulder. "This is the girl who has stuck with me through thick and thin. She's a beautiful person inside and out. I have never met a more amazing person, and now all three of us have 2,000 new friends. I say that's an amazing present. Chloe and Anna are gonna stick around for the rest of the concert. They were gonna be backstage, but I like it better when they're out here. This next song combined our three favorite songs." Beca played the mix that had Young Blood, Titanium, and Heart Hypnotic. After the song, Beca explained the meaning of Titanium. "So when I started college, Chloe wanted me to join the Bella's, but I lied and said I couldn't sing. Of course I made the mistake of singing in the communal showers, and Chloe ran into my stall when we were both naked, and she wouldn't leave until I sang it with her."
Chloe laughed. "I knew it was her voice. I knew she could sing. I had to recruit her and build her confidence. She was amazing."
Beca laughed. "I hate to say it, but the concert's almost over. I had an amazing time tonight. You guys are amazing. I wouldn't have missed this for the world. Thanks so much for being so amazing, and my meet and greet girls, come join me backstage for cake! I love you awesome nerds. Beca put on the beat of Titanium and started singing with her best friends. They finally danced off the stage. When they got backstage, Chloe literally picked Beca up and spun her around like a five year old. Beca was laughing so hard she was crying when Chloe finally let go. "Happy belated birthday, Chlo!" Beca said with a smile.
"OH MY GOD YOU ARE THE BEST FRIEND IN THE WORLD."
Chloe was crying with joy. "I can't believe you did that for me. Out of 28 years, 10,220 days of my life, this was the best day ever. I sang my heart out, Beca. It felt amazing. I wish I could do that all the time!"
"C'mon in guys," Beca called to the girls that were at the door. They all ran up and gave Chloe a hug."
As they were eating cake, Beca played the name game and got everyone's name down. "Ok, I got this," she said. "Quinn, Piper, Melissa, Katie, Bridget, Annalise, Molly, Zoey, Riley, Eryn with a y."
"Yep," the girls said in unison.
Eryn smiled at Beca. "You did amazing! I can't wait to see your next concert!!"
"Nah, you guys are the amazing ones. I have the best fans."
Anna spoke up. "What was your favorite part?"
They all said Chloe's birthday song. After they ate, they had to go home. It was 3 in the morning, and that was even too late for Beca. "I had an amazing time guys," Beca said. "You guys want free tickets?"
Chloe handed the girls free tickets. "There's two in each envelope, so you can bring a friend."
The girls smiled. "Thank you so much Beca!" Quinn said.
Beca gave a hug to each girl before they left. When they were all gone, Beca collapsed on the couch. "Beca, come on, let's go home," Anna said.
Chloe dragged Beca up from the couch. "Come on sleepyhead. I know you're tired."
Beca got up and limped to the car. She perked up a little after they dropped Anna off because she got rained on. "Hey, Chlo, you ok? You haven't said a word."
"Yeah. My throat just hurts. I probably won't have a voice tomorrow, but it's worth it. You made my 28th birthday so special. Thank you."
"I wanted to do something nice after all you went through with me last week."
"Thanks, Becs."
Beca and Chloe went inside and immediately went to bed, happily thinking about the amazing night they had.
