Chloe woke up around 10:00 the the next morning. She was happy to be not tired for the first time in 4 days. She decided she should wake up Beca because she did promise her shitty coffee and ice cream. "Beca," she coaxed, rubbing her shoulders. "Wake up, I'm taking you for coffee if you're up to it."
Beca slowly opened her eyes and sat up. "I'm exhausted," she complained.
Chloe laughed. "You're the only person I know who can sleep for 4 days in a row and still be tired. Now get up. I wanna do your hair"
Beca sat down in her chair. "Fine,"
she complained. "Can you take my to my room so I can get dressed?""Yeah. Do you need any help?"
"I think I'm ok."
Chloe wheeled Beca into her room and near the closet. "Call me if you need anything," she said, leaving the room.
Chloe walked into the kitchen to get herself some breakfast. She made some cereal for her and Beca. A few minutes later, Beca called from her room. "I'm done, Chloe."
Chloe wheeled Beca into the kitchen. "I made you cereal," she smiled.
Beca got out of her chair and hopped to the table. "Thanks, Chloe. I'm trying to avoid this thing as much as possible."
Chloe and her sat down at the table. "How do your ankle and wrist feel?" Chloe asked.
"My ankle is killing me. I can tell its really badly bruised. I think it might take longer than a week to heal. It hurts so bad. My wrist isn't bothering me too much. I think my ankle's distracting me from it."
"Ok. If your ankle takes longer than a week, we're going to have to come up with something else for you to walk."
"Shit, my concert's in 2 days. What am I going to do if I can't walk? I can't cancel the first one."
"We'll talk to the doctor tomorrow. She might just give you a brace. If worst comes to worst, I'll help you onstage or we'll figure out how to make it easy for you. Can you even DJ with one hand?"
"Yeah. I got so lazy I normally do that anyway. Now let's go for coffee. I'm so tired."
"Ok," Chloe said, helping Beca back into the wheelchair. I'll call a cab. We should probably go look for a car tomorrow. I think we should see a movie today or something. Just to get your mind off of things."
"Ok," Beca said. "Shouldn't we go help Anna today?"
"She's good now, she has a boot for 2 weeks, and then she'll probably get a brace."
"Oh yeah. I wasn't paying attention yesterday."
Chloe smiled. "It's ok. Neither was I. We were exhausted." She helped her friend into the cab. When they got there, Chloe got the coffee and sat down. "Hey, Becs?" She asked.
"What?" Beca answered.
"Just out of curiosity, What was it like being in a coma?"
"It's so hard to explain. It's like I could hear everything. It was really weird. I wasn't dreaming, but I knew my body was healing, and I couldn't wake up."
"Wow. It was probably hardest for you."
"It was. I couldn't express any emotion. I heard what you guys said to me and I knew it was you crying all the time. I was crying too. I didn't know if I was going to wake up or ever see you again. I had to see you. I was really upset. I had no idea why I was there."
A single tear rolled down Chloe's face. "I didn't leave the hospital until Anna dragged me to lunch. I didn't want to leave you. You know if you were there for a year, I probably wouldn't have left."
"I know. I heard you watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians. I knew something was wrong. I knew my wrist and ankle were hurt. It sucked because I could feel pain and not do anything about it."
"Beca, I'm so sorry this happened. It was my fault. I didn't see the truck. I feel horrible. You could have died and your car is a wreck..."
Beca cut her off. "Nothing was your fault, Chlo. I swear to god no one saw the truck coming. Don't blame yourself. I didn't see it and I was looking out the damn window."
"Ok. I'm still sorry this happened."
"Hey, the important thing is that we're all ok. I have a pounding headache right now."
"It's ok. We're stopping to get cheap candy at Walgreens. I'll get you some medicine."
"Thanks, Chlo, let's get going. I wanna see Paper Towns." Chloe got up and pushed Beca to the doors.
