Beca woke up around 8 the next morning. She decided to wake up Chloe. "Chlo, you gotta get up. We're going to get my cast off today."
Chloe rolled off the couch. "The only reason I'm getting up and getting dressed today is for you, so be thankful that we're best friends."
Chloe got dressed and put some makeup on. Beca braided Chloe's hair and put it in a bun to match her own.
When they got to the doctor's office, Erin was ready right away. "Hey, girls," she said perkily.
"Hi," Beca said, just as happy.
Chloe gave a faint smile. "Hey."
"Chloe, we're gonna cut off the cast first, so if you're afraid, you might want to step out of the room."
Chloe ran out of the room so fast. Beca just laughed. Erin pulled the blade machine out of the closet. "What's wrong with Chloe? She seems upset about something."
"Her boyfriend was cheating on her, and she found out yesterday. He had another girlfriend the whole time they were dating. I feel so bad. She doesn't deserve this. Her parents died when she was 16, I could have died. She doesn't deserve everything that's thrown at her." Beca looked upset.
"Aww. That really sucks. I'll tell her I'm sorry when she comes back into the room."
After the cast was cut off, Beca called Chloe back into the room. Erin sympathetically smiled. "I heard about your breakup. I'm so sorry."
"Thanks, Erin. I'm ok."
Beca compared her two wrists. "It's still kind of swollen."
"Yeah. I'll give you a brace. Do you want some regular crutches? I'm sure they'll be easier."
"Yeah. I'm so exhausted all the time with this thing."
Beca took the hands free crutch off her leg. Erin gave her the regular crutches. She walked around the room a bit until she got it down. "Thanks so much Erin. This is so much easier."
"No problem. I think we're about done. I'll see you in 4 weeks for your ankle."
"Ok. See you."
Beca and Chloe left the doctors office and drove back home. Chloe wasn't in the mood to go out to lunch. "Hey, Chlo, you doing ok?" Beca looked at the taller girl.
"Yeah. I'll get over it eventually. Now I'm just going to drown my sorrows in tears and pudding."
"Why don't we see a movie or something?"
"I'm really not in the mood, Becs."
"Come on. I looked up the times for paper towns and its on in an hour."
"Fine, I guess we can go."
Beca smiled. "That's my favorite ginger." She turned around to head to the movies. "What do you want for lunch?"
"Anythings fine."
Beca stopped at Taco Bell. "I'm just going through the drive through. What do you want?"
"Tacos."
"Ok."
Beca went through the drive through and parked in the parking lot. "You know there will be other guys. I promise. And for now, you have your best friend in the world."
"Thanks, Becs."
"Oh you know you're going to have to finish the design though?"
"I know. Can you give the designs to him when I finish? I can't face him after what he did."
"Of course. I'll just make up some weird excuse to be at petsmart."
"Thanks Becs."
Beca started driving to the movie theater. She wasn't too excited to see the movie, but she was trying to make Chloe feel better. "Hey, Chlo, what candy do you want? It's on me."
"Reese's pieces," Chloe said, climbing up the stairs to their seats. "Will you be able to make it up the stairs?"
"Yeah I think so. I'll go get the candy."
Beca left to go get the candy. Five minutes later, Chloe got a text from her.
Just realized I can't carry anything on crutches
You idiot I'll be right there.
Thanks Chlo.
Chloe came and picked up the candy and drinks. "To be honest, it slipped my mind too."
Beca laughed. "I wish they would just give me a boot already."
"It's only another week until you get a boot. I think you can survive."
Beca laughed. "The stairs are the worst."
"You need help?"
"No I got it, it's just hard."
"Ok," Chloe said, walking ahead of her.
When Beca made it up the stairs, she collapsed on the chair at the end. Chloe laughed. "Here's your candy and soda."
Beca took a sip of soda and laughed. "The minute my leg is 100% healed, I'm going to the gym. I need to work out way more."
Chloe laughed. "Ooh it's starting!!!"
The girls watched the movie in silence. Beca didn't like it that much, and she didn't cry at the end. Chloe was sobbing at the end. She loved the movie.
When they got out of the theater and into the car, Beca pulled a travel sized Kleenex out of her purse and handed it to Chloe. "Holding it together ok?" Beca smiled.
Chloe playfully punched Beca in the arm. "Hey, that's an emotionally tough movie when you're going through a breakup. I do feel a little bit better though."
"That's great Chlo. What do you want for dinner?"
"We have leftover lasagna from last night."
"Ok."
The girls drove home, and Chloe heated up the lasagna. Beca collapsed on the couch. "I seriously need more coffee."
Chloe laughed. "I would think 2 cups would be enough."
Beca rolled her eyes and stood up, balancing on her good foot. "You know what Beale? When my leg gets better, we're going to the gym and I'm going to prove that 2 cups of coffee is worth it."
Chloe walked over to the couch and playfully pushed Beca down on the couch. "Fine." She sat down next to Beca. "How is your leg anyway?"
"I don't know really. It doesn't hurt, but I can tell it's still messed up."
"Ok. Dinners almost ready."
Chloe handed Beca her crutches. "Thanks, Chlo."
Beca sat down at the table and ate her lasagna. "Hey Chlo, let's have a post-breakup session tonight."
"What do you mean?"
"We can just sit and talk about anything you want, and we'll eat pudding and junk food and just hang out"
"Ok, that sounds fun."
Chloe took the plates to the sink, and got pudding out of the fridge. She and Beca sat down on the couch.
