Jesse and Beca walked up to Chloe's house. "Hey, Chlo!" Beca said.
Chloe walked to the door in a tiara and tutu. "hi! You caught us in a round of dress up."
Beca laughed as she pushed some of Chloe's hair out of her face. "You look ridiculous."
Chloe rolled her eyes. "Well this is in the comfort of my own home, it's not like I'm wearing mismatched sweats while screaming the lyrics to remix to ignition and jumping on my best friends back in front of the entire mall." She glanced down at Harper. "I had fun tonight, sweetie! Thanks for coming to hang out with me!"
"Bye, Aunt Chloe! See you tomorrow!" She said.
Beca turned to look at Jesse. "I think I'm gonna stay a little while. Can you get her to bed for me?"
"Sure! Goodnight, Chlo."
Chloe smiled. "Goodnight, Jess."
Beca smiled. "How was it?"
Chloe's eyes brightened. "I wanna adopt a little girl."
"What?" Beca said, shocked.
"I was so excited to have a baby, Bec, and that's not going to happen anymore. I want to adopt a little girl." Chloe smiled. "And Harper, oh she's just the sweetest thing, I want a kid."
"Chlo, there's things to actually consider here, ok? What about the fact that child care costs money, which you don't have a lot to spare right now."
"We're doing more concerts right?"
"I don't know how much more your voice can take, Chlo. Maybe you should start looking for a side job."
"Well I wanted to be a teacher but you thought that was a bad idea and I guess it might be with my voice and everything."
"I didn't think it was a bad ide-" Beca started, but Chloe cut her off almost immediately.
"Yes you did, Bec. You act like I need all this protection, like I'm a little puppy, and I'm not, ok? I'm a grownup, I can make my own decisions, and I want to be a teacher and I want to adopt a daughter." There was sort of an angry tone in Chloe's voice.
"Can we at least talk about this?" Beca was a little afraid of Chloe.
"No, it's my decision, ok. Make decisions for your own family. Because I'm sick of this. I'm sick of going along with whatever you want. It's not up to you anymore."
"Ok, I'm gonna get going." Beca quietly got up. "Let me know if you need anything."
"I don't need anything."
"Ok. Have a good night." Beca quietly slipped out of the house, confused about what just happened.
"You look exasperated," Jesse said. "Do you need a backrub?"
"No, I'm just in a fight with Chloe, I think."
"Why?"
"She...um...she wants to adopt a little girl. And I told her that I don't think she's financially ready and she's mad because I told her being a teacher was a bad idea with her voice and everything. She thinks I'm too controlling and that she doesn't need "protection" or something."
"Well I agree with you. Are you gonna try to talk to her?"
"Yeah, knowing her, she'll come here at midnight and apologize."
"Yeah, I'm gonna get to bed. You gonna stay up for awhile?"
"Yeah. Thanks, Jess. Love you."
"Love you too."
Beca was sitting on the couch around midnight when she heart a familiar knock at the door. She quietly got up to answer it. "Hey..."
Chloe pulled her into a hug. "I'm so sorry, Bec."
Beca felt tears on her shirt. "Hey, it's ok. Let's talk about it."
Chloe nodded and followed Beca to the breakfast bar. Beca smiled up at her. "You want some tea?"
"Sure."
Beca handed her a cup of tea. "So...lets talk about this."
"I'm sorry, Bec. It's just, I want to start a family, and I feel like I have so much holding me back. It's frustrating. And it took all my strength and confidence to come here. I'm so terrified something is going to happen."
"I'm sorry Chlo, I get it, that you want freedom and everything. I'm so controlling, I know, you know I just want the best for you."
" I know, Bec, I'm sorry. I need your help with this."
"I know you do. I'll never leave your side. So what made you decide to want to adopt all of a sudden?"
"Playing with Harper. She's just so sweet and I think I'm ready for more responsibility. I mean I'm almost 33 years old. I had dreams of having a daughter when I was younger."
"Well what about Nick? I thought you wanted to have kids with him."
"I haven't heard from him in 2 weeks. Have you?"
"No, Chlo, do you want me to text him."
"Don't even bother. He's probably cheating on me just like Corey was. I just want to start a family on my own."
"Ok. Well I'll help you, never forget that. If I'm being too controlling, let me know, I don't mean too, Chlo. I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry for blowing up at you, I'm on my period and you know how I am." Chloe smiled.
"No I totally get it. You wanna watch a movie, I'm not tired?"
"Sure, what do you wanna watch?"
"Clueless. I'll go find the DVD, can you make some popcorn?"
"Yeah."
Beca went into the living room and started searching for the movie. "Ah! Here it is," she said. Chloe walked in and helped Beca stand up.
"Thanks Chl-woah my water just broke! Chlo get Jesse, mama's having a baby child."
"Right, yeah, I'll go get him." Chloe ran into the bedroom. "Jesse, wake up, her water just broke."
"What?"
"Her water just broke, Jess."
"Oh shit, ok." He hears her screaming. "It's ok, Bec," he said. "It's just a contraction."
He quickly got dressed and helped her into the car. "Chloe, can you stay here and get Harper up and come to the hospital."
Beca spoke through the screams. "It's coming soon I think."
"Ok." Good luck guys!
