A week later, Chloe and Beca drove Aubrey back to the airport. The two girls gave Aubrey a tight hug.
"Text me," Chloe smiled.
"Yeah, I'll let you know about the reunion," Beca said. There was no way she was going to say "aca" in public.
"Sounds good. See you soon!" Aubrey said as she walked away.
When they were walking back to the car, Beca's phone rang.
Hey Anna.
Hey.
What's up?
I was wondering if you and Chloe could come over and walk Diamond and PJ for me.
Yeah of course. Why?
Oh um I kind of broke my leg but I'm fine. I just can't walk them.
You what? How did you do that?
Cute story actually...well it's a long one. I'll tell you when you get here.
Ok bye.
"What's up with Anna?" Chloe asked.
"She broke her leg," Beca said in a concerned tone.
"Oh my god she did?!?" Chloe frantically said.
"Don't make a big deal out of it until we hear the story, Chlo. We have to go over there to walk the dogs."
"Ok," Chloe said, walking faster.
When they got to Anna's house, she was sitting on the couch.
"Cmon in!" She called from the living room.
"Omigod Anna what happened?" Chloe cried.
"Cool cast," Beca pointed at Anna's black cast with white polka dots.
"So it's kind of a long story. Ben and I walked to whole foods, and I slipped on some water outside. I could tell something was wrong and we were pretty far from the hospital, so Ben picked me up and hailed a cab and I laid down in the back of the cab until we got to the hospital and and he carried me in up four flights of stairs because the elevator was broken"
"Woah," was all Beca could say.
"Well are you ok?" Chloe asked?
"Yeah. If you go to the coffee table, the x-Rays are on there, and it's only a minor break," Anna said as she grabbed her crutches. "Do you guys want a snack?"
"Yeah," Beca paused. "We can get it if it's too much trouble."
"I'm ok," Anna said, "I have to figure out how to use these anyway," she said lifting up one of the crutches.
She wasn't very good at them yet.
"What do you want to eat?" Anna asked as she hobbled into the kitchen."
"Whatever's easiest," Beca said with a sympathetic smile.
"Got any fruit?" Chloe asked.
"That's just what I was thinking!" Anna said trying to pull a bowl of fruit out of the fridge. "Hey, Becs, can you help me with this?"
"Yeah," Beca said walking over to the fridge.
Chloe grabbed three forks from the drawer and pulled out a chair for Anna.
"Thanks for the help, Chlo," but I'm fine," Anna said.
"Hey, do you want us to take the dogs for a few hours so you can rest?" Beca asked.
"Yeah, actually that would be great!" Anna said.
"You look exhausted, Anna," said Chloe.
"Well I didn't sleep that great but I'm ok," Anna said. Chloe got up to get the dogs.
"Thanks for coming, Anna said."
"No problem. If you need anything, just call," Beca said as she grabbed her bag.
