The three girls were sitting at the cafe in the airport eating sandwiches even though it was 10:30 at night. "So we should probably get through security now," Beca said. "Chlo, did you take your meds?"
"Yeah, I'm already getting a headache." Chloe sighed.
Camila gave Chloe a sad look. "Are you ok?"
Chloe sat her daughter on her lap. "I'm ok, Camila. Alright! Let's get going." She shifted the little girl to her other hip as she started walking.
Beca followed closely behind until they got to security and the guard spoke to Chloe. "Miss, you're going to have to take that b-"
"I know," Chloe said as she put her daughter down. "Bec, can you help me?"
Beca knelt down and quickly unclasped the brace and handed it to the security guard. Chloe walked slowly though the detector and her daughter went next. Beca gave her that sarcastic smirk when she went through and the security guard gave Chloe her brace back. "Alright! Let's go!"
Chloe smiled as she walked onto the plane. "Ok so I sit across from Camila and next to Beca. But yeah I really don't feel good."
"Just sit down, and we'll see how you feel in a bit." Beca rubbed her back. "Camila, your mom isn't feeling well, I think we should switch seats for a few minutes until she feels better."
Camila sat down on the ledge of the chair. "Momma are you ok?"
"Yeah, I just have a stomach ache, but I'm ok." Chloe smiled at the little girl. "Can you sit in the seat next to me?" Camila walked over to the seat next to her and sat down.
Beca unfolded the chairs to make a bed. "Lay down and put your knees up. Just try to breathe."
"I'm gonna puke, Bec. Ugh, not again." Chloe sighed.
"I'll stay with Camila. Put your hair up, it's ok." Beca said, tearing the hair tie off of her wrist and handing it to Chloe.
Chloe tied her hair and ran to the bathroom. Beca stood up after 10 minutes. "Let's go check on her, Camila."
She found Chloe in the bathroom stall. "Hey, how are you doing."
"I puked once already, but there's more, I can tell. I can't do this every day, it's not gonna work." Chloe said, slightly out of breath.
"Every day?" Camila asked with wide eyes.
Chloe breathed heavily. "Take her back and explain, I'll be out in a minute."
Beca nodded and walked back to their seats with Camila. "So listen sweetie, Chloe is probably going to be sick like this every day."
"What? Every day? Why?" Camila asked sadly.
Beca took a deep breath. "Ok, so when your mom was in the accident, it scared her a lot and caused her to have a thing with her brain called PTSD, or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder."
"What's that?"
"It's sort of where you're afraid of everything because of something that happened."
"Oh..."
"So a few days ago she went to a special Doctor that's going to help her and she got some medicine that will help her, but it makes her really sick. She'll get really bad headaches, and she'll throw up sometimes too."
"Could I help her?"
"I'm afraid not, sweetie. Just be extra sweet when she gets sick and let me know when she's not feeling well so I can come over and make her feel better." Beca lifted the girl up. "You wanna go check on her again?" Camila nodded and they started walking back to the bathroom. "Chlo?"
Chloe was sitting in the corner crying. "I need to talk to you, Bec."
Beca sighed. "Ok. Camila, can you be a big girl and sit in your seat while we talk?"
Camila, sensing that the issue was important, left quietly and sat down in her seat. Beca slid down the wall on to the floor next to Chloe. "Soo..."
Chloe burst into tears. "I can't do it, its horrible and it makes me feel so bad. I hate throwing up."
Beca wrapped her arms around Chloe. "Hey, you're better though, and you're a lot more confident."
Chloe stood up and started pacing around the tiny bathroom. "I'm not, I'm so insecure inside, I'm terrified about what people think of me, I'm probably just the ugly shy girl with all the scars. That's all they see me as."
Beca stood up. "No one sees you like that, so shut up. You're beautiful, Chlo. Since when do the scars bother you?"
"Since I broke up with Nick, I started noticing all my imperfections."
"Why? Notice your perfections first. There's a lot more of them. You're beautiful, Chlo."
"No I'm not."
Beca pushed her friend in front of the mirror and stood behind her with her hands on the taller girl's shoulders. "You're perfect."
Chloe laughed out loud. "Well not now with all this makeup all over my face."
Beca giggled. "Haha let's fix that." She took a paper towel and helped her wipe the makeup off. "There, it's all good."
Chloe smiled. "Thank you."
"You're not just beautiful, you're also flawless, cute, witty, smart, artistic, ah-mazing...I could go on. But first I wanna hear you say it.
"I'm beautiful, flawless, cute, witty, smart, artistic, and ah-mazing," Chloe repeated.
"Yes you are. And you're also Chloe, that's the most important part."
"And you're Beca. And I love you so much."
"I love you too, Chlo. Now let's go back with Camila."
Chloe smiled and followed Beca back out to her daughter. Camila smiled at the fact that her mom was happy again. "Aunt Beca says you're taking medicine that's making you sick, but the medicine is going to help you not be so scared anymore."
Chloe giggled sadly. "Yep, that's it. Aunt Beca explained it perfectly."
"You don't have to be scared anymore, mommy, you have me and I'll keep you safe." Camila snuggled into her mom.
Beca smiled. "Yeah, we'll keep you safe. And you have a lot of people to go to if you ever need to talk."
Chloe smiled. "I love you guys so much."
"I love you too mama." Camila yawned.
"Here, sweetie, wanna lay down?"
Camila laid down on the bed made of connected chairs. "Goodnight mama and aunt Beca."
"Night, Camila," they said in unison.
After she fell asleep, Beca sat down and cuddled with Chloe. "So how does motherhood feel?"
"It's the best feeling in the world." Chloe's eyes brightened.
"It really is, it just makes you feel so happy. She loves you so much Chlo. You saved her."
"I know, she's amazing. I love her so much too."
Beca yawned. "I'm gonna get some sleep. If you don't feel well, wake me up. Night Chlo."
"Night, Becs."
