5 months later

"Chlo, do you have any idea what I should be for Halloween?" Beca called from her closet. "It's really hard to find a costume for someone 8 months preggers."

"No, and did you seriously call it preggers? You're so stupid," Chloe said.

"I think I'll just be a nudist on strike"

"Oh yeah because that's a great example for your daughter."

"Well what are you gonna be?"

"Knee brace girl!"

"Are you serious. Seriously?"

"No I'm joking it's a surprise."

"Oh ok, go get ready, we have to be at this party in an hour."

"Ok," Chloe said.

Beca knocked on Chloe's door a half hour later. Chloe appeared at the door wearing an American Indian costume. "What do ya think?"

Beca's face lit up. "Oh my god you were this ten years ago! We had to pass out flyers for this thing in costume and it was your idea and I was so mad at you. Then we went to a party and it was pretty fun actually."

"What were you that year?"

"I was Cupid and so was Amy so we had to hand out flyers together."

"What are you supposed to be?"

"A Blackhawks player, duh."

"What the hell, you live in New York, you should be a Rangers fan."

"I'm from Chicago, and I moved to Georgia with my dad when I was 13. I'm still a Blackhawks fan though."

"Oh ok. Ready to go?"

"Yep."

Chloe climbed into the car behind Beca. Beca gave her a glance. "You ok in the car?"

She smiled back at her. "Yep! You've really helped me through this so thank you."

"No problem, Chlo. I just wish your memory would come back. It's been 5 months."

"I know, it's been hard but I'm doing a lot better with everything. I'm pretty much healed besides this giant leg brace. My memory will come back at some point."

"Yeah I really hope so." Beca pulled into the parking garage. "So who's party is this again?"

"Our publicist, Beca, do you pay any attention to anything?"

Beca didn't answer right away. Chloe rolled her eyes. "Beca!"

"What? Uh oh yeah." Beca said. "Sorry, I've been so stressed and unfocused lately? Ever since I went of these meds, it's like I'm having to adjust and it's taking the longest time."

"What meds? For what? Are you ok?"

"Yeah, just mild autism and I went off the meds 6 months ago. I'm doing ok though."

"Ok, well if you ever need anyone I'm here, you know that."

"Yep! Let's go now!"

Beca and Chloe walked into the party and got some drinks. They found a table and sat down. Beca held up her phone to take a selfie with her. "aw we look so cute!"

Chloe smiled at the picture of them. "Aw I'm gonna get it framed."

Beca laughed. "I'm so happy you're my best friend, you know I couldn't live without you."

Chloe gave her a small smile. "Thanks Becs, you too let's look at more pics."

Beca opened the Halloween album and started from the beginning. "So this was 10 years ago at the party and I took this picture because you were super drunk and your costume was so cute." She handed her the phone.

Chloe looked at the pic for a minute and dropped the phone on the table. "We need to go. Now."

Beca immediately stood up. "Are you ok?"

Chloe took a deep breath. "Yah, we just need to go, I'll explain it in a minute."

Beca nodded and practically ran back to the car with Chloe. Once they were in the car, Beca took a breath. "What's going on."

"I remember everything, Beca, it's terrifying, I remember everything up until the point I passed out. I can't do this, Bec, I can't go home."

"It's ok, Chlo. I got you. You can hold my hand the entire way home."

Chloe took Beca's hand and started breathing heavily. "Ok, it's ok, I'm ok, I'll be ok."

She would cry at every stop until they got home and she curled up on the couch. Beca sat down next to her and pulled her into a tight hug. "It's ok."

Chloe started sobbing. "It's not ok, I remember everything, when the car was tumbling down the hill, when it lit on fire, it's all in my brain and it's terrifying. I can't do this. The world is so scary, Bec, I don't know how I did it all these years, I can't do it anymore. You're the only person I'm fully comfortable with anymore. I just....I'm terrified."

Beca let Chloe curl up on her lap. "Listen to me, you're safe here. I promise, and if this is the only place you feel safe, then we'll work on it, and I'll be here all the time."

Chloe cried into Beca's shoulder. "Really?"

"Of course. So tell me something you remember, something happy."

"The Halloween party. It triggered my memory I guess, it was one of my favorite things."

"Anything else?"

"When I met you, and we were at the activities fair."

Beca smiled. "Yep! So I have to take Harper trick or treating now, and if you want to come, that would be good, but if you're not comfortable with it then-"

"I'll come, I think. You'll be with me, right?"

"Yep! Come on, let's go fix your hair and makeup."

Chloe brushed through her tangled hair while Beca helped her reapply eyeliner and mascara. "There! Good as new!" Beca said. She linked hands with Chloe. "Ready?"

Chloe shakily took her hand. "I think s-so."

Chloe took a shaky step out of her house. "I don't think I can do it, Bec."

"It's ok, you can do it." Beca squeezed her hand and took another step. She quietly knocked on the door. "Jess, we're ready! Are you and Harper ready?"

Jesse and Harper came out a few minutes later. Chloe smiled shyly at the little girl. "You look so cute in your Cinderella costume!"

"Thanks Aunt Chloe. Daddy's costume is cool too. I love darth Vader."

Chloe nodded and smiled as Harper ran ahead of them and went to the first house. Beca held hands with Jesse also, and they walked in silence. "Everything ok between you two?" Jesse asked nervously.

"Chlo?" Beca asked, signaling for him to start talking.

"Well, my memory came back," she said quietly. "And it's really terrifying me because I remember the accident, up until I blacked out. I remember rolling down the hill and screaming and crying when the engine caught fire. It's terrifying, and I'm so scared now, of everything. I could barely leave my house."

Jesse switched sides and squeezed Chloe's shoulder. "You'll be ok, Beca and I got you."

Beca smiled. "Yeah. So Chlo, it's almost like agoraphobia."

"What's agoraphobia?" Chloe started shaking.

"It's ok, it's just fear of the outside world. You'll be ok."

"Can we go home, Bec, my chest is hurting, I'm really nervous about everything."

Beca looked at Jess. "You don't have anything to, do you? Can we go?"

"Yeah, go ahead. Hope you feel better, Chlo."

"Thanks, Jess."
